Kyala Clegg, MS, CSCS is a Strength and Conditioning Coach and Dietetics Student based in New York City. She is the founder and CEO of The Hype Wellness and has over 5 years of experience training privately and at universities. Kyala is a published author and has positioned herself as an expert in her field.
Kyala obtained a BSc (Advanced Honors) degree in Nutrition from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh before moving to New York City to complete her dual Masters Degree in Nutrition & Exercise Physiology in 2018. While studying for her MSc, Kyala interned with Joy Bauer of the Today Show and completed certifications qualifying her as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Team USA Weightlifting Coach, and Corrective Exercise Specialist. She also interned with the Columbia Strength and Conditioning Team during her final semester at Columbia. Kyala is an expectant Dietetic graduate of Lehman College 2021.
Kyala works privately with clients on body recomposition and lifestyle change. She specializes in sports nutrition for performance enhancement in female athletes. Kyala’s intervention philosophy focuses on reframing your relationship with food and exercise–it’s all about finding a balance. She takes an anti-diet, food-first approach to wellness and believes that nutrition and exercise interventions should be curated to your needs, goals, and lifestyle–anything else isn’t sustainable. “Wellness isn’t supposed to be a struggle, it’s supposed to make life more enjoyable,” she says.
Online, Kyala is a well-known nutrition, health and fitness expert, sharing research-supported content to her growing audience on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram. Kyala started blogging in 2018 as a way of spreading credible, evidenced based nutrition and exercise advice and has since begun coaching privately. Her goal is to break down the latest fitness and nutrition trends into easy-to-understand content because wellness isn’t a privilege, it’s a human right
