Here’s the thing, none of your goals matter if you don’t take the time to lay out your next steps.

Let’s use a completely unrelated example—if your goal is to buy a Fendi bag this year but you never begin saving or advocate for a raise at your job or start a side biz, your beautiful goal is just glitter, not substance.

Your goals can be as lofty and luxe as you’d like but if there’s no backing behind them, you’re window-shopping without 💰.

And don’t get me wrong, I love window shopping. And I try on goals like they’re this season’s Chloé boots! But it’s all in an effort to see which is the right fit before I buy.

Once I decide on a goal, I know have the 💰 to back it.

So play around with your SMART goals and find which fits your future self the best. Then, let’s strategize to get you there. Bc much like window shopping, why visualize something that you never actually intend on having as your reality? 🛍

Set yourself up for success. Do your research. And consult experts in that field so that you CAN check off that box someday and say “I DID THAT!”

When was the last time you just listened to the world around you?

Take a moment today. A solid minute to two and breathe. Notice the world around you. Focus on how your body feels and what you can see. Forget about what else you must do or the frustrations of the day. Lean into the present moment.

YOU DON’T DESERVE TO FEEL DISAPPOINTED IN YOURSELF.

You never have.

But I remember looking in the mirror and feeling completely disheartened. dissatisfied. discouraged.

I remember how hurt I felt——literally from nobody’s fault or unkind words but my own.

And I’m telling you that there’s more to life than having deep seeded frustration with your body and habits.

I’m telling you that whether you stick to your schedule today or not YOU STILL DESERVE TO FEEL YOUR OWN SELF-LOVE.

Whether you go to the gym or not today, YOU ARE STILL STRONG.

Whether you eat 0 cookies OR 24204847 cookies, YOU ARE STILL FLAWLESS.

Whether you have acne OR a perfectly clear and contoured face, YOU ARE STILL GORGEOUS.

Whether you fit into those size 4 jeans or not, YOU STILL NEED TO EAT.

Whether you check off everything on your to do list today or take a nap, YOU still deserve rest and self-compassion.

You don’t have to do anything today to still deserve lovingkindness, self-compassion, healthy relationships, and wealth.

YOU are perfect just the way you are. And I hope you see that. 🤍

Because it took me years to grant myself permission to feel any of these things unless I checked all the boxes, ate 0 sugar, and fit into somebody else’s version of perfection.

About Us

Kyala Clegg, MS, CSCS is a Strength and Conditioning Coach and Dietetics Student based in New York City. She is the founder and CEO of The Hype Wellness and has over 5 years of experience training privately and at universities. Kyala is a published author and has positioned herself as an expert in her field.

Kyala obtained a BSc (Advanced Honors) degree in Nutrition from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh before moving to New York City to complete her dual Masters Degree in Nutrition & Exercise Physiology in 2018. While studying for her MSc, Kyala interned with Joy Bauer of the Today Show and completed certifications qualifying her as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Team USA Weightlifting Coach, and Corrective Exercise Specialist. She also interned with the Columbia Strength and Conditioning Team during her final semester at Columbia. Kyala is an expectant Dietetic graduate of Lehman College 2021.

Kyala works privately with clients on body recomposition and lifestyle change. She specializes in sports nutrition for performance enhancement in female athletes. Kyala’s intervention philosophy focuses on reframing your relationship with food and exercise–it’s all about finding a balance. She takes an anti-diet, food-first approach to wellness and believes that nutrition and exercise interventions should be curated to your needs, goals, and lifestyle–anything else isn’t sustainable. “Wellness isn’t supposed to be a struggle, it’s supposed to make life more enjoyable,” she says.

Online, Kyala is a well-known nutrition, health and fitness expert, sharing research-supported content to her growing audience on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram. Kyala started blogging in 2018 as a way of spreading credible, evidenced based nutrition and exercise advice and has since begun coaching privately. Her goal is to break down the latest fitness and nutrition trends into easy-to-understand content because wellness isn’t a privilege, it’s a human right
