🏵️Out-of-hospital childbirth education can emphasize natural birthing techniques, such as breathwork, relaxation, and active birthing positions AND/OR focus on how to be comfortable through a multi day induction, what epidural relief will look like and positions that are still available, or preparing surgical birth 🏵️

Childbirth education with me is done in the comfort of your own home and personalized to your priorities in birth (home, hospital, or birth center births).

While we will go over all the possibilities in birth, we will focus on your desires & you will be educated on how to best prepare.
Part of childbirth ed with me includes individualized movements, positions, & mindset work to support your labor & birth.

These sessions allow for more interaction & tailored support to address your individual concerns & questions.

We also go over what you can decline in a hospital setting & how to decline, as well as what you can ask for!

We bring in your partner/labor support person to practice labor positions, comfort measures, & labor scenarios & how they would react.

We dive deep into postpartum: how to keep your body nourished, prioritize recovery, & get support for all parts of your life with your new baby.

Meeting with a local person means you have a personal connection nearby & you get local resources for your pregnancy, birth, & postpartum needs.

Group birth prep classes, prenatal massage, chiropractic, breastfeeding classes, & more.

The path of all the movements you do every day in pregnancy is well carved. You always lean into one hip or the other, you sit or stand for long periods for your job, you have poor posture or you consistently recline when sitting, you clench in your glutes, pelvic floor, low back, or shoulders.

Some of these may feel comfortable but they can cause tightness and tension in spaces of your body that will need to release during birth.

🏵️ Tension in the body can lead to longer labor, more pain & discomfort in labor, higher likelihood of tearing, & more limit to the available movements & positions that help baby move into & through the pelvis in birth.

The path of the movements that you probably aren’t doing in your everyday life but that will help you in labor is where I’ll meet you with a shovel in my hand.

🏵️ I will teach you movements & positions to release tension, improve hip mobility, get in tune with your body & baby, and ultimately have more space available to you in labor & birth. We’ll also dive into how your mindset & nervous system play a huge role in physical tension.

I always say - don’t let labor be the first time you get into certain positions or move your body in certain ways.

I offer private prenatal movement / birth prep sessions for personalized support, partner inclusion, and practice in the comfort of your own home.

▶️ Send me a message to see my upcoming availability for private sessions.

▶️ I also offer group prenatal classes at Vigilante Yoga in Watertown NY.

You’re going to want to prepare for your labor & birth.

🏵️ Enhance your flexibility & strength, which can help support the body as it changes during pregnancy & in birth

🏵️ Learn movements & positions that will aid in labor prep, labor progression, comfort in labor, & birthing / pushing

🏵️ Learn more about the pelvis, how it moves, & how it’s connected to the rest of the body - & how to release tension held there

🏵️ Get out of your movement ruts - if you’re on your feet all day or sitting a lot, you’re likely holding tension in certain areas

🏵️ Prepare your mindset for childbirth through education, visualization, & meditations.

🏵️ Have space to practice rhythmic & deep breathing through movement & stillness

Gentle movement in pregnancy can reduce stress & prepare your mind & body for birth - I’ll guide you through personalized flows in a private setting or new flows each week in a group setting!

Book private birth prep sessions to learn movements & positions that aid in labor prep, labor progression, comfort in labor, how your partner can better support, & birthing / pushing.

Things I did in my last pregnancy that led to a smooth, fast, nearly pain-free labor & birth

I moved & stretched my body often. I went through my yoga teacher training while pregnant & I went to classes often. I think this type of movement & being consistent definitely played a role in keeping my physical & mental tension low, making it easier for my body to surrender.

I learned a lot about many facets of birth. I listened to educational podcasts & birth stories. Videos of births & followed empowering Instagram pages. I learned about super rare conditions & I definitely learned about any conditions I had.

I repeated ‘I am fearless’ to myself over & over. I have a terrible fear of surgery, so a c-section is really not something I wanted. But I was certain that if I gripped too hard I would create more fear, stress, tension, & ultimately pain surrounding my whole birth. I knew what I wanted & I got to a place of being okay with how the cookie crumbled.

I waited until I was in active labor before going to the hospital. Not always an option, but if you can I would absolutely recommend staying at home during early labor. I was able to stay in my own space, my own bed, my own shower for most of my labor.

I didn't give birth laying flat on my back. If it feels good in your body & is an option for you, I would absolutely suggest you give birth in another position other than flat on your back. Your pelvis gains 30% more space if you aren’t laying on your sacrum.

No matter what kind of birth you want (or end up having), preparing physically & mentally will lead to a more satisfying birth experience.

I did a great deal of preparation & was blessed with a birth that was just about as good as it could be. I felt amazing after giving birth to my son & it propelled me to where I am now - serving others in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

I like to say inhale - smell the flowers, exhale - start the fire.

If you're praying for a baby, pregnant, newly postpartum, have older children or some combination of these...

Take some time today to take a deep breath (the air outside is so crisp and fresh right now in NNY), release your jaw, drop your shoulders.
