Vista Health System proudly recognizes Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (April 19–25).

At Vista, some of the most critical moments in care happen long before a patient is seen— they begin in the lab. Before a diagnosis is made, our Medical Laboratory Professionals have already done the work to make it possible. They verify, analyze, and ensure each result is accurate—because everything that follows depends on it.

Across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, and pathology, their work informs every decision we make. In time-sensitive moments—from the Emergency Department to surgery to inpatient care—their accuracy directly shapes outcomes.

This is work that requires judgment, focus, and a high level of responsibility—done every day, without margin for error. They are part of the decision-making process that drives patient care.

We recognize and thank our Vista lab team—and all laboratory professionals—for the precision and judgment their work requires—and for the trust our patients place in the results they deliver.

Because of you, every decision we make is grounded in accuracy, trust, and care.

Vista Health System was proud to take part in the Zion Annual Senior Resource Expo in a meaningful way, alongside our Care Team and members of Vista Physician Group—coming together to deliver on-site health screenings and expand access to preventive care resources within our community.

This impactful event brought together nearly 200 participants and close to 40 vendors, all dedicated to serving and supporting our senior community.

Our team conducted screenings for over 50 individuals, assessing key health indicators including blood pressure, oxygen saturation (SpO₂), BMI, and respiratory status—helping connect community members to valuable insights about their health.

As a Primary Stroke Center in this region, our Stroke Coordinator provided one-on-one education on stroke recognition, prevention, and the urgency of timely care when every second matters. Our Bariatric Coordinator offered personalized guidance on nutrition and overall wellness, while our Surgery Preadmission Registered Nurse delivered hands-on screening support and guidance—collectively working together to deliver individualized support for each person.

Members of Vista Physician Group also supported screening registration and shared information on preventive care services, from primary care to specialty services such as interventional cardiology and gastrointestinal (GI) health.

We were honored to connect not only with residents, but also with dedicated community leaders, including Cheri Neal, Supervisor of Zion Township, whose leadership continues to make this impactful event possible each year, and Mayor Billy McKinney of Zion, IL, who also participated in the health screenings—both reinforcing their commitment to the health and wellness of the Zion community.

A special thank you to the Zion Township team and the many vendors whose partnership and dedication made this event possible. Your commitment to serving our senior community is truly appreciated.

We are deeply grateful for the support and recognition shared by our community. It strengthens our purpose and reinforces our commitment to delivering compassionate care—because our community is at the heart of everything we do.

Wishing our community a happy Easter.

Easter reminds us of our deeper purpose—to serve others with compassion, bring hope in times of need, and care for one another as neighbors. Those values are reflected in how we serve and support you and your loved ones across our community.

We care for individuals and families during some of the most difficult and uncertain moments—when answers are needed, when support matters, and when someone must step in to help. It is a responsibility we carry with intention and respect.

Across Vista Health System, our dedicated care team is present in those moments—providing care, guidance, and support through life’s most critical times. Whether you need emergency care or ongoing services, we are here as your neighbors—committed to serving our community 24/7.

We are especially grateful to our incredible volunteers who created handmade comfort pillows for our patients this Easter.

Wishing you and your loved ones a peaceful and healthy Easter.

Colon cancer is preventable. Screening saves lives.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in the United States—but when detected early, survival rates exceed 90%.

Don’t wait for symptoms. Take action today.
- Screening can detect cancer early—even before symptoms appear
- Most adults should begin screening at age 45
- Early screening can prevent cancer by removing precancerous polyps

Know your risk:
You may be at higher risk if you are 45 or older, have a family history, or are experiencing changes in bowel habits or abdominal discomfort.

Take steps to reduce your risk:
Eat a fiber-rich diet, stay active, maintain a healthy weight, and avoid smoking and excessive alcohol use.
