Breathwork with Michael Emotional healing & spiritual development using Breathwork to open the mind to its full potential

I've been doing Breathwork for over 27 years and became a facilitator in 2021. I've done grad work in Transpersonal Psychology, practice Zen, have completed two Peruvian Shamanic apprenticeships, and was a physician until retiring in 2021.

I am proud to announce that our Unitarian Universalist Association has joined a multifaith coalition representing millions of Americans across dozens of denominations and the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection in a lawsuit challenging ICE’s “sensitive locations policy.” This action is an expression of our deeply held religious values which call us to communal care and protection of the most vulnerable.

The lawsuit asserts that subjecting places of worship to ICE enforcement actions without a judicial warrant substantially burdens our religious exercise in violation of the First Amendment and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. These enforcement actions at our places of worship interfere with our religious activities and our ability to fulfill our religious mandate to welcome and serve immigrants.

Learn more about the lawsuit and our role in it in the story from UU World linked in the comments below.

It's SO hard to look into ourselves and open up to our pain.

But it's also hard to live a life with that pain constantly nagging at us.
Making us hypersensitive to any criticism.
Making us feel shame and inadequacy that keeps us from the relationships we want.
Creating depression, anxiety, and possibly even substance abuse.

Therapy is hard to find and is expensive.

Hologenic Breathwork is a potent, inexpensive way to open up that pain and let it out. It has transformed my life, and I'm confident it can transfer yours.

I'm a retired physician who leads all-day Breathwork sessions in the Milwaukee area to help people heal their emotional pain.

Relationships are supposed to be fun, warm, and satisfying. Sure, all people have arguments now and then, but they should be like islands in the ocean - few and far between.
If you have relationships that constantly swing wildly from good to bad, filled with arguments and resentments, that isn't healthy. In almost all cases, these problems come up because of deeply held, undealt-with issues.

But these issues don't have to torpedo partnerships and friendships. We can work through those issues. Breathwork is a great way to do it.

Breathwork takes us to our issues and shows us where they came from. It helps us understand what happened, that it wasn't our fault, and that the person who did it to us wasn't strong - they were weak -- too weak to control themselves. And, by realizing this, the issue rapidly loses its control over us.

Give your relationships a chance. Bring fewer issues into them - with Breathwork!

Since Michael Pollen released his best-selling book "How to Change your Mind," which was about psychedelics, there has been an explosion of interest in and use of them.

But I think of psychedelics like I think of uranium: incredibly powerful at benefiting people (especially with helping them heal deep-seated emotional wounds), but also capable of incredible damage if something goes wrong. I'm a testament to this; I had a bad trip in my early 20s and spent the next seven years going through brutal panic attacks. Each one was BY FAR the worst thing I'd ever experienced.

But there's an alternative; one that lets you have the psychedelic experience, but which leaves you in total control if you start to go somewhere you don't like. Breathwork acts on the brain in a way similar to how psychedelics work, but you are always still present in the background. If anything starts going bad, all you have to do is open your eyes and sit up, and you're right back in your normal mind.

If you're psychedelic-curious but worried, do yourself a favor - try Breathwork!

Can you remember when you were a young child? Before grade school? If so, you can probably remember what it meant to be totally absorbed into every little aspect of your world. A ladybug on a leaf was incredible. Watching clouds change shape as they floated along was breathtaking.

Everything was magical.

And you were sweet and innocent, untarnished by people spewing all their ugliness over everyone around them. Even if you saw some, you didn't understand it.

But as we get older, we get crushed by all sorts of forces: the discipline of school, clergy scaring us with images of Hell if we don't obey what they tell us, mean talk and violence on the playground. And slowly, inch by inch, we lose our innocence.

But all of that is still inside us; it's just hiding scared in an unconscious closet. But we can find that child, befriend them, and coax them out of hiding. And we can see the world through their eyes again.

Breathwork is a fantastic way to get back into the eyes of our inner child. We stand breathless as the sun goes down, making the undersides of clouds a beautiful pink. We jump in puddles, roll down hills, and hold a butterfly on our finger.

And we know innocence again. With Breathwork.

It's so easy to fall into the idea that if we just do this or that, everything in our life will be great:
Marry that gorgeous partner.
Get the job you crave.
Win the lottery.
Buy a 3-bedroom house with a white picket fence.
Buy a Lamborghini.

But none of these meet our real emotional needs; they're just ways to inflate our Ego.

Breathwork opens us to our true needs:
Self-love
Compassion for others
Working to improve our world
Expanding our consciousness.

When we open to our true needs, we realize that we are already everything we need. We are what we've always been looking for!

Let Breathwork show you the way!

Ever have that feeling that people are walking all over you? That nothing you do pleases them? That you're constantly being criticized, ignored, and pushed into doing things that you absolutely don't want to do?

Almost always, this is because you've always been told that you don't have the right to stand up for yourself and be assertive. You weren't born like this; you were taught to believe it, probably by your parents, though other authority figures can play a role (teachers, clergy, bosses, mean classmates).

There's an answer to this - setting boundaries. Boundaries are limits we set on other people in how they relate to us. No more pushing me around. No more telling me what to do. No more trying to make me feel bad if I don't do everything you tell me to.

Breathwork can really bring us in touch with two things that help us overcome this:
1. It takes us back to when we were being told we didn't have the right to defend ourself. It shows us how we weren't the problem; it was THEM who had the problem - shaming, blaming, punishing us for crap that wasn't our fault. And teaching us that we didn't have permission to stop them.
2. It puts us in touch with a part of our unconscious called the Warrior Archetype. This is the part of us that stops people from hurting us. It's assertive, even aggressive if it needs to be. But it's not cruel or mean. Its job is to protect us and those we care about by stopping others from walking all over us. Getting in touch with it feels GREAT - powerful, dynamic, and potent!!

Ditch the old helplessness crap, strap on your Warrior, and stride out into the world - with Breathwork!!

Research has shown that Breathwork is about 1/3 as potent as full-dose L*D at creating a profound mystical experience, with none of the risks. It can really blow your mind!!

People doing Breathwork have reported a loss of sense of self, connection to spiritual beings (angels, spirits, dead ancestors, Jesus, etc.), seeing the world through other people's eyes, connection to ancient civilizations, and even Universal Consciousness.

The best part is that it's done under the supervision of a trained facilitator in Sacred Space. You have a person sitting for your every need during the process.

In my experience, one Breathwork session gave me the benefit of about 12 therapy sessions - faster, easier, and much more cheaply!

Give yourself the ride of your life - with Breathwork!!

How often have you felt like you are doing everything you can to make it in this world, but for some reason it's just not happening?

There's a person you're really attracted to, but you just can't bring yourself to break the ice with them.
You know you have what it takes to get a promotion, but it just never happens.
You want to lose weight or work out, but you just can bring yourself to do it.

These types of things usually happen because there's some part of us buried in our unconscious that's sabotaging us. The weird part? It thinks it's HELPING us. It thinks if we show ourselves for who we know we can be, we'll get put down, humiliated, or disappointed; so it keeps us from stepping forward. But what it's doing is making us miserable.

Breathwork can take us to a place in our mind where we have the chance to face those hidden beliefs. And what do we find? That part of our mind is parroting something that we were told a long time ago - usually when we were kids. Someone shamed, blamed, or punished us, and it planted a seed that grew into full-blown self-sabotage. But with Breathwork we can see that this was never about US - it was about THEIR shame and insecurity, or their need to be cruel to make themselves look better.

During Breathwork, we can take their BS off like a rotten old shirt, throw it away, and begin again. We can see that we are truly worthy of what we want and that we have every right to work to get it.

And our lives are transformed.

There are times in most people's lives when they feel kind of lost. They feel adrift, like they don't know where they're going or, even if they do, how to get there.

For most people, this is because they have a whole bunch of voices in their head, each wanting you to go IT's way. So many different voices with so many different choices can just make you feel bat-crazy.

Breathwork has a great way to open you up to seeing each of the divided parts of yourself. You step back and see what each part wants and how that may or may not contribute to what you truly want. It opens the spiritual part of your mind to help you better see what you are truly drawn to. This lets you decide how much importance to put on each voice; how some might be able to work together for you and how some may have to be discarded.

And you find clarity and purpose.

Let Breathwork show you the way.

When hit with some form of loss - a partner/spouse, a child, a job, an injury - we can feel broken apart. We feel broken into pieces - like a jar dropped on the floor. We don't know where to go, what to do, how to pick up the shards of our life.

This is because a big chunk of who we believe we are (spouse, parent, a person doing a specific job, or our body and what it allows us to do) is gone. We aren't who we thought we were any more, and it's scary and disorienting.

This is a great time to do a Breathwork session. Breathwork moves our mind a few steps back and allows us to see all the shattered parts of ourselves; how they relate to each other, the role each part plays, and how to bring them back together. All the parts stop fighting for their own needs and make friends with each other.

And we become whole again!

Let Breathwork help you heal.

Whenever a person believes they're unacceptable, they wall themself off from the world and other people. I remember, before therapy and Breathworks, how I used to feel like there was a thick layer of plastic between me and everyone around me.

But how does a person come to think they're unacceptable? Does a baby act like they're unacceptable? No! We're trained to think so by the way we're treated. People in authority judge us, criticize us, and reject us; they infect us with this belief.

Breathwork takes us back to those instances where we were judged, criticized, and rejected. It shows us that WE weren't the problem - the problem was THEM! They were filled with shame, blame, and self-criticism, and they projected their problems onto us. We see that we were an innocent, trusting, sweet person, and they had no right to do that. And we give them back their BS, we refuse to carry it for them anymore.

And we heal.

We become the person we were born to be, full of life, love, and purpose.

Let Breathwork guide you back to that person!
