A young woman who has been participating at the barn, sent this to me and allowed it to be share as part of her journey.


I Now Know

I never knew how majestic you could be
Gentle and tame but also muscular and wild
Graceful when I don’t have grace toward myself
Calm when my anxious thoughts are taking over
Your intelligent mind gives me peace
I never knew how loyal you could be
No matter how many times I fail the obstacles
You’re still there waiting for my touch
You’re always willing to help me learn more about myself
Your broad shoulders give me comfort
I never knew how wise you could be
Often times knowing me better than I know myself
Your silky coat against my hands brings warmth to my heart
Some might say it’s silly what we do in this barn
And I myself used to think it was silly too
But the healing you have given me could never amount to anything else
Often times I feel more loved by you than I do people and for that, I thank you
I now know how majestic you are
Sometimes flawed but oh so powerful
I now know how loyal you are
Constant and compassionate time after time
And I now know how wise you are
Showing me a path to freedom
Showing me a way out of the mess I’m in
It’s beautiful in every way
You give me insight and empathy
Emotional regulation and devotedness
I will never stop learning how to love myself
So please keep me grounded as I journey with you
