Weatherford, the Hyperbaric Chamber is officially OPEN!
This is a huge acheivement for the City of Weatherford and we are very excited to announce that we are officially opening to the public!
But what is a hyperbaric chamber?
As seen in the video, a hyperbaric chamber is a large clear tube that is closed a both ends.
The tube is under pressure. Outside air is filtered and pumped into the chamber while the patient is inside.
An oxygen mask is placed on the patient and they breath 100% pure oxygen during the treatment.
The increased oxygen in the blood fuels white blood cells to fight infection and promote healing.
Although hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has other uses too, the FDA has approved HBOT to treat the following:
Wounds (non-healing, diabetic foot ulcers)
Infection of the skin and bone
Radiation injury
Skin graft flap at risk of tissue death
Air and gas bubbles in blood vessels
Anemia
Burns
Carbon monoxide poisoning
Crush injury
Decompression sickness (the bends)
Gas gangrene
Hearing loss (complete hearing loss that occurs suddenly and without any known cause)
Vision loss (when sudden and painless in one eye due to blockage of blood flow)
Studies have also shown that HBOT can also treat:
PTSD
Autism
Concussions
