What you’re feeling might not be laziness at all—it could be overwhelm, anxiety, or burnout. Your brain is trying to protect you, not work against you.

Thrive would like to welcome its newest Intern! She is available daily minus Tuesdays after 3 pm, Saturdays after 4, and Sunday afternoons. Her fees are $40 per session.

My name is Angelina Shawn, and I am currently a graduate student at Pentecostal Theological Seminary studying Christian counseling. As a mother of two adult children and a high school teacher, I am experienced in working with children. I especially enjoy working with preteens and teenagers, recognizing that this is a challenging phase of life. I take pleasure in providing teens with tools that can help ease some of the struggles they encounter both at school and at home. In my free time, I find fulfillment in crafting, music, and caring for animals.

If this week has felt heavy — you’re not alone.

We live in a broken world, and some weeks remind us of that more than others. But as Christians, we don’t carry the weight alone. Jesus said, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

It’s okay to take a step back. To rest. To grieve. To process. But don’t lose sight of the truth: God is still on the throne. Evil does not win. Lies do not have the final word.

Take time to pray. Open God’s Word. Rest in His promises. And then — stand firm. Speak truth. Love boldly. Lead with conviction.

We are called for such a time as this. Stay grounded. Stay faithful.
