For those of you that are new to this page, allow me to reintroduce myself!

My name is Mike DeMille and I use this platform for a number of reasons. I have an absolutely beautiful and brilliant wife , a golden retriever named Briggs, a Physical Therapy clinic/ Personal Training studio in Wellesley Hills that is certified with the Institute, and a run a cash based Physical Therapy clinical and business mentorship with .

You can expect to see a blend of biomechanical, business, and occasionally personal content on this page. On November 12th, and 13th we will be hosting for his Rethinking The Big Patterns, Athletic Patterns certification and over the next few weeks I will be posting content about some of the details of that course. If you are a Personal Training, Strength Coach, or Physical Therapist who is interested, follow the link in my bio to sign up!

We could not have asked for a more perfect wedding weekend, surrounded by friends and family.

Most importantly my beautiful bride shined in a way that I will never forget. Running our own small businesses can be difficult. Long hours, stressful deadlines, managing goals, it can all take a toll on you after a while.

Erin was able to start her own business, get her master’s degree, and cook a delicious meal every single night all while dealing with me and my craziness.

Watching her grow into the woman she is today, and impact those around her feels like a blessing to me. Her perseverance, intelligence and beauty are all what makes this feel worth it to me. She is one in “demillion”.

After this amazing wedding, we picked up our pup Briggs! It truly feels like we are all one big happy family and I could not be more grateful. Thank you to all of you who wished us a happy wedding, we appreciate every single one of you.

Repost from .space.podcast

Dr. Mike Demille is a Physical Therapist and the owner of Divergence Physical Therapy and Wellness, in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He is certified through the Postural Restoration Institute and uses their principles to guide his work, spanning the spectrum of rehab and performance.

Mike is exceptionally articulate and has a way of explaining nuance in a way that makes so much sense. If you struggle to express to your clients and patients why this work is important and how to reframe their experience of pain, then you definitely want to listen to how Mike communicates!

He discusses how he creates categories that are more specific to avoid putting people into too broad of a context that doesn't lead to the best outcomes. The specificity is critical to his practice and success.

"It's borderline unethical to put a patient in the scenario of relying on all of our cues as a practitioner", is one of the many amazing sentences he said in the podcast.

He also gives his thoughts on the climate of instagram and social media and how different the approach is to how we treat one another in person vs. online.

Jill immediately says, "wow, thats an unbelievable metaphor for life, and I offer to let Mike and his wife, Erin adopt me 😂".

There are so many ah ha and holy moly moments in this podcast, you do not want to miss a single word!

You can find out more about on his Instagram and on his website. His program for clinicians and trainers is called Solidify.

Please enjoy and share.

There is a huge difference between having a large following on Instagram where you have likes, positive comments, and “clout” vs. having a strong, repeatable, local reputation where your place of business exists. My hope is that the reason most of us got into this industry in the first place was to take everyday people that struggle with pain and help them regain control of their lives.

Continuing education is simply a means to accomplish that more efficiently, bringing the knowledge that someone has condensed into digestible pieces that we the consumer can use. This information does occasionally get posted on the internet as a means of continuing that dialogue with even more experienced practitioners (on the surface, seemingly a good thing).

Somewhere along the way this initial desire to help the client in front of us that has never heard of any of these continuing education schools of thought got muddied where we are on social media trying to prove others wrong and trying to show our worthiness. Every second that the movement specialist or PT spends online looking through the material of others in an effort to try to poke holes in someone else’s methodology is getting away from the ultimate goal, to help those that we serve on a local scale.

I share these case studies not to brag, but to show how important it is to us to keep the focus where it needs to be kept, improving the experience of our clients. If you are sick and tired of the competitive, pointless landscape of social media and are looking to grow your local reputation, then check out the Solidify Free Training, and and I will show you how!

Many of the clinicians in my circle tend to be very mechanically inclined and love figuring out the most intense details of biomechanics and anatomy. Many clients that are hyper aware of their body position and injury may seek out a clinician that is mechanically oriented and anatomically minded. Both parties have agreed upon what's important and feel comfortable with the relationship. This can be VERY dangerous when it comes to making real progress.

To avoid this, there needs to be accountability with exactly where your blind spots are, and an action plan that can help you patch them up. This is not a fun process, but if your goal is to improve your clinical skills and your practice, it is a very necessary one.

The Solidify Mentorship was designed to help you identify these exact blind spots. In the Solidify Free Training we go over the exact methods in which and I structure out educational and treatment process which took many years of failure and tweaking in the Cash Based PT setting. To sign up for the Free Training, follow the Solidify link in my bio.

and I met back in 2011 at Springfield College. Tyler was one year ahead of me in his second year of undergrad on the DPT 6 year track and was playing volleyball. I was in my freshman year on the same 6 year track hopefully ending with a DPT degree in 2017 and playing baseball. At the time, I didn't really have a direction for where I wanted my career to go, who I wanted to be, how I wanted to treat my patients, etc. One thing that did always drive me though was the desire to do things differently and to think differently.

From there I was introduced to the benefits of training as a baseball player through . I would take every moment and opportunity that I could to improve my skills as a baseball player because my talent could only take me so far. This included a number of semi-private group training sessions with . Somewhere along the line, Sam introduced me to because he had been to one of their courses and heard about them through Eric, and that is where everything changed for me.

Also, this was a time where I was able to connect with Tyler even more, we both were mesmerized by PRI, and intrigued by how it could change our course as aspiring Physical Therapists. Fast forward a few years, and Tyler and I along with a few other classmates were running a private study group once or twice a week to discuss all of the new methods that we were bringing into our lens, and dreams that we had of one day opening a private practice.

Fast forward a few more years, and Tyler and I have both received our PRC designation and own our own cash based Physical Therapy, strength and conditioning based practices on opposite coasts of the country. I am amazed when I reflect on how things have developed and progressed since our athletic careers at Springfield. Throughout this journey, Tyler and I have created our own paradigm and model on how to optimize the private practice, cash based, performance encouraging Physical Therapy clinic that blends the most complex principles of biomechanics with the foundations of patient communication and relationship building.

This journey has created .

I had a blast speaking to mentorship group yesterday. It is always fun to take a deep dive into the patterns of asymmetry and go through the details of why we as clinicians see what we see in the clinic. It’s always a great challenge but very rewarding to then take these concepts and communicate them in ways that everyone can understand.

Things to remember when dealing with the Right BC pattern of upper body asymmetry:

- the sacrum, sternum, and sphenoid like to all orient themselves to the right
- to deal with this, the upper body rotates the scapulae to left
- as a result we see a right scapula that is depressed, upwardly rotated, abducted, and internally rotated
- this position of the scapula is what alters the ROM capabilities of the humerus

These patterns can run deep, and be tricky to understand all of the details. I did not come up with the asymmetry representation, human beings body’s and science did. I did not craftfully create a way to organize the information in a clinical setting, did. I have however, been able to successfully apply the information in a physical therapy practice, and would love to show you how you can to!

If you would like to understand in easy to follow detail, the Left AIC, right BC, Superior T4 syndrome, and more, head over to the Solidify link in my bio for more information.
