Adhesive Capsulitis is no joke.
It's painful
Absolutely annoying
Not an easy recovery
Commonly diagnosed in women, aged 40-65. Higher risk is if someone has diabetes, thyroid disorders, prolonged immobilization (post-surgery/fracture), previous shoulder injury.
This condition is characterized by Freezing, Frozen, and thawing phases which all together can last anywhere from 1-3 years without treatment.
Intensive physical therapy is part of the recovery for this condition, so it is important to establish a positive relationship with your therapist (you'll be together a while). This is a fairly common orthopedic condition that we deal with rather frequently.
