As a single Mom, the weekends that my kids are at their dad's house used to be hard for me. I would worry so much about being alone and what if something happened to me (like a bad hypoglycemic episode) and nobody was there to help me. Well, thanks to my Dexcom and my Tandem pump's control IQ, I feel a lot better and safer. I don't sit here worrying about what could or might happen. I used to keep this fear from letting me do the things I want, but not anymore. This weekend, I tried something new, paddleboard yoga. Now I have done tons of yoga and pilates classes and I have paddle boarded, but never have I done both together. It was super intense trying to keep my balance as I moved through the various poses, plank, down dog, pigeon, table, balanced table, cobra and so many others. I am thankful that I was willing and able to take on this challenge and I am happy to report that I made it through, without falling off. So my diabetic friends, when did you last push yourself to try something new? When did you last do something hard? I challenge you to each find something new and hard to do this week and let me hear all about it! Show me how diabetes does not keep you from living your life!!
(sorry these pictures are awful- selfies during paddleboard yoga almost impossible but I tried :-)
