When it comes to protein it’s all about bioavailability. While it’s a noble thought that we can get lots of protein from eating plants 🥦, the fact is that plants contain a lot of anti-nutrients as well (phytic acid and lectins etc). In order to get the protein and nutrients from them we must cook, ferment, and/or sprout them first. If you are looking to get a good amount of protein and amino acids into your diet, eating meat is just a much easier option. Especially when it comes to ease of digestion and bioavailability. Not to say you can’t get an adequate amount of protein on a primarily plant based diet - you can. You just have to know what your doing and do your homework. This is not a post to say you should be eating more meat, that’s not the point. The point here is to teach and educate on how your body uses nutrients like protein and how to find the best source for you! Eating plants does have a lot of benefits don’t get me wrong, just don’t expect to get the same amount of protein and absorption as options like a good quality source of animal protein 👍 And yes the source does matter always aim to get grass-fed grass-finished beef, wild-caught fish, eggs from free roaming chickens, etc when possible 👍
