WHY I Believe in Preventing Burnout
Did you know that up to 52% of healthcare workers suffer burnout? Up to 30% of teachers and humanitarian workers do as well? AND in a survey of 2,000 parents 63% of them reported suffering burnout at some point in raising children. YIKES.
Burnout - emotional exhaustion, lack of caring or empathy, depletion of resources, and overwhelm - causes a variety of physical ailments: Anxiety, irritability, high blood pressure, skin problems, impaired healing due to chronic inflammation, indigestion, and constipation are some big ones. Not to mention the effects it can have on children and people close to you. We are all interconnected, not one of us is an island so all of our emotions and "vibes" do pass to those close to us.
It's not supposed to be this way. You, yes YOU, are not supposed to go through life feeling overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, and struggling with physically not feeling well. You are meant to live well and be healthy, whole, growing in life and love, and moving fluidly through all the emotions the human experience brings. But chronic stress leading to burnout keeps us in a state of feeling inadequate and STUCK in negative patterns and emotions.
This is WHY I believe in preventing burnout and in some cases overcome it. You're made for more than the hamster wheel of chores, work, relational duties, and obligations that are not bad necessarily but reduce you to a machine - one that is expected to always give, always comply, always say "yes", always keep your emotions to yourself. You can be better than that and you are deserving of it.
Understanding burnout and how to prevent changed my perspective on LIFE. And now it's time my fellow ladies know how to too!
