Avoid work burnout. 😫
Take your designated breaks as often as you are able. Limit the number of days you go in early or stay late. Plan to take time off for personal days and vacations. When you’re away from work, avoid checking emails and voicemails, if possible.

The Difference Between a Bad Day and Clinical Depression

Bad Day: Temporary sadness, still able to enjoy some activities, mood improves with time or positive events, energy returns after rest.

Clinical Depression: Persistent sadness lasting weeks/months, little to no pleasure in activities you used to enjoy, changes in sleep/appetite, feelings of worthlessness, difficulty concentrating.

If symptoms persist for two weeks or more, professional help can make a real difference.

: Breathing meditation could work for you if you give it a chance. Take a few minutes right now to sit comfortably and focus on the sensations of your breath — breathing in and breathing out. Let any thoughts that come into your mind drift by without getting involved in them. This takes practice, but it’s worthwhile. Enjoy the stillness.

: Take social media breaks! More than 70% of Americans use social media, which has been linked to conditions like depression and anxiety, according to the Pew Research Center. From comparison culture leading to lower self-esteem to the constant stream of negative news, social media may have a bigger effect on your daily mental health than you think. Try taking regular breaks, even if it’s just for a couple of days at a time.

SPRAVATO® can have a rapid antidepressant response and is added on to an antidepressant and the rest of your regimen. It is the first new mechanism of action to treat depression that has come out in over 30 years. The initial course of treatment is twice a week for four weeks then generally once a week. It can be continued 2 to 4 times a month for maintenance, as long as it is needed. I’m hoping that it can be effective for those of you who have not had an adequate response with currently available treatment.
