This year (+!) has been a crazy one.

My husband had a pretty bad bike accident that landed him a 4 day hospital stay back in early October. Those first few days were really scary. He looked totally fine but he had some internal injuries. This was really confusing for the kids too. For those of you know my husband, he is not one to sit idly. But he literally did not have the energy to do much of anything those first few weeks. I was worried he would push himself, but he knew, to get better, rest was important. If he needed to nap after walking to the mailbox or reading an email, he did. 😴 And he got better day by day. And the kids really pitched in. We realized so many of the things that my husband handled. We raked and bagged SO MANY LEAVES. There were plenty of other things, but oh the leaves!!🍁🍂

And he's back to doing the things he loves 🚲 and probably some of the things he doesn't love either.

We are thankful for his full recovery. We are appreciative of all he does.

While sometimes we are forced to take a rest and care for ourselves, it can be really hard to make time to do it in our everyday lives. But it is so important.

Give yourself this gift🎁

You deserve it.

I saw all those black and white pics of beautiful ladies over the last few weeks. I'm a little uncomfortable with selfies and even solo pics. It's not that I hate pictures but I feel very critical of myself. How un yogic right? In this culture of pinterest perfect, social media and filters it is easy to feel like you don't measure up to these unrealistic standards.

So I took this picture. It's ridiculous but it is totally me. I will try to lighten a bad mood with humor. I will take sophomoric comedy over drama any day.

I think you are pretty amazing. Your quirks make you special. There are people out there that love you for and not inspite of those little things you worry over. Be true to you. You are beautiful.

I can't help but share another of my dad's poems from

There is just so much craziness in the world right now. I think this is compounded by the pandemic and it is making people including myself stressed, angry, sad, worried, scared, and a multitude of other feelings. All these feelings are valid.

With all these stressors I think people are on edge and maybe not quite themselves. I am trying to take a step back when dealing with tough situations and challenging people. Am I acting out of a place of fear or anger? And if so what is that going to achieve?

When I act in a way that I know isn't nice (no matter how difficult the person or situation is) I know I will not feel good about it. That doesn't mean I always make the best choice, but I'm trying.

Thoughts of the day... letting go of ego lets you go.

Both my kids are great on the bike. My husband is a mountain biker and both my kids love to ride. On the 4th of july, a younger kid cut in front of my son while he was riding and he wiped out, banging his chin, elbow and hip pretty hard. My daughter took a corner too tight last night and had a bad tumble, hitting her forehead and knee. But for each of them, they were back out and riding the next day, showing off their bandaids.

I know for me, mistakes and failure can be harder to bounce back from. There's that ever present ego, but also embarrassment, shame, and plain old fear. Letting go of that can be hard but thinking of all I'm missing out by not moving forward is a big motivator for me.

Kids are such an inspiration to me. They aren't worried about what people think. They get back up. They keep on going.

I want to find that inner child; let go of those self imposed barriers, move forward and have fun. ❤
