Tammy (Tamara) Samples did things backwards: She spent several years as a stay-at-home and homeschooling mom raising her children. When her youngest turned 3, at the age of 43, Tammy went back to school to complete her Associate’s Degree, then her Bachelor’s Degree, and finally her Master’s Degree. She received her Master of Science in 2020 with a focus in Forensic Psychology. Over the last 10 years, Tammy has built up a varied resume of experience that includes work in child welfare and the foster care court system through CASA programs and work with at-risk youth, work with ex-offenders to build employment skills and re-entry into society, work with homeless families, support to families and individuals in crisis, as well as providing therapy and counseling services to all ages.

Tammy has special interests in trauma therapy, assisting victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, and using her own past experiences with postpartum depression, self-esteem struggles, abuse, divorce, family mental health struggles, and family member justice involvement to support clients who want to move forward in their lives. Tammy has experience as a chaplain and uses her background and her faith to help others build skills and personal capacity that will improve their lives.

In her spare time, Tammy enjoys spending time with her big blended family that includes her husband, four biological children, two step-children, and several bonus children, as well as extended family (oh and dogs, cats, and chickens!). She is active in her church and community and enjoys reading, gardening, watching movies, learning, and traveling.

Ali Kern earned her Master’s degree in Human Services Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University in 2022 and is currently working toward licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). She has experience supporting adolescents in school settings, helping teens navigate anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, bullying, family transitions such as divorce, and other challenges. Ali also has experience working with couples to strengthen communication and connection. As a Christian counselor, she is passionate about integrating faith into the counseling process and is happy to provide faith-based counseling for clients who desire it.

Ali is honored that you are considering taking this next step toward healing. From the moment you walk into her office, her goal is for you to feel safe, welcomed, and valued. EMDR - The number one question we get asked is what is it and what does it stand for? Our EMDR trained providers would love to help you quickly address past trauma, phobias, compulsive thoughts, and a variety of other barriers to wellness. EMDR is not talk therapy but the combination of the two is optimal. EMDR, we find, is a much quicker approach to making meaningful progress and combined with talk therapy provides positive outcomes, measurable progress, and continued support.
