It was great to see such strong attendance from our members and brothers from other boards around the state.

Missed the clinic? If you were unable to attend, you MUST complete one of the remaining statewide rules clinics to be eligible for scholastic baseball assignments.

On behalf of the Greater New Haven Baseball Umpires Association, we proudly congratulate 53-year member, Past President, and 2023 Black Jacket honoree Bill Riccio on being selected as the 2024 recipient of the National Active Official Award by the NFHS Officials Association. This honor recognizes his outstanding contributions to both baseball and football.

With 53 years as a baseball umpire and 50 years as a football official, Bill has made a lasting impact on high school sports. He has served as a rules interpreter for both sports in Connecticut and has officiated numerous state championship games. His knowledge, leadership, and dedication have been invaluable to the officiating community. Please see the NFHS announcement below, which highlights Bill's remarkable career as a sports official.

No one is more deserving of this award than Bill, whose dedication, selflessness, and passion for officiating continue to inspire us. We are incredibly proud that he remains an active member of our association, both on and off the field!

The NFHS is the national leader and advocate for high school athletics as well as fine and performing arts programs. Within our 51 member state associations, we serve 19,500 high schools and more than 12 million young people.
