Contact Your Local Program to Deliver or Prepare a Meal
Volunteers are the backbone of Meals On Wheels programs across the country. Not only do they prepare and deliver meals to homebound seniors in their local communities, Meals On Wheels volunteers provide the seniors they serve with companionship and a warm, friendly smile when they arrive at the door.
There are a lot of volunteer opportunities at a Meals On Wheels program near you, though specific openings will vary from one location to another. People with all schedules, interests and abilities can help at a local Meals On Wheels program – whether they want to be hands-on or behind the scenes, and whether they can volunteer during weekdays or only on evenings and weekends. Call your local organization to find out how you can help.

Willy's World Wellness & Conference Center in Eastham, Massachusetts, will be sponsoring a Cape Cod & Islands Community Health and Wellness Expo on October 22nd and 23rd, 2011.

The expo will benefit the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition and Silent Spring Institute, two organizations dedicated to breast cancer prevention. The Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition, the state's leading breast cancer organization, has been conducting education and outreach throughout Massachusetts since 1991. Its sister organization, the nationally renowned Silent Spring Institute, has been researching the environment's effect on women's health since 1994.

The Cape Cod & Islands Community Health & Wellness Expo will be held at Willy's World Wellness & Conference Center on Route 6 in Eastham from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, October 22nd and Sunday, October 23rd. Along with community wellness tables, there will be fundraising activities such as a dance-a-thon, tennis round robin, tennis marathon, kick box-a-thon and more! The facility will be ablaze with businesses in our community who all share health and wellness goals.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH.. THINK PINK AND WALK FOR A CURE! Barnstable Fire Department is Going Pink

Its small department is trying to make a big difference. The firefighters are presenting its First Annual IAFF Goes Passionately Pink for a Cure to help support the Susan G. Komen foundation.
Barnstable Fire Department is selling pink flamingos for $5. The birds then receive a ribbon to write in a loved one's name and are then is planted in swarm on our front lawn.
Barnstable firefighters are the first Mid-Cape department to wear pink duty shirts for the entire month and are getting rave reviews from all that see them, the department said.
