Nearly half of children with autism are at risk of eloping—leaving a safe environment without supervision—which can lead to serious dangers like traffic accidents or drowning. In fact, children with autism are eight times more likely to elope between ages 7 and 10 than their neurotypical peers2. To help keep your child safe, consider installing door alarms or locks, using wearable GPS trackers, and creating a safety plan with neighbors and local authorities. Teaching functional communication skills and identifying triggers can also reduce elopement behavior. Most importantly, stay proactive and informed—your vigilance can make all the difference.

Food for thought!

There is no magic bullet or one-size-fits-all diet or approach for any individual with ASD. However, dietary approaches that reduce inflammation are proving to be helpful with focus, alleviating certain behaviors, autoimmune conditions, pain, sleep and improved overall health.

Always seek the assistance of a nutrition or health professional when making adjustments to your child's diet -- especially if they are already on a self-limited diet. It's helpful to know the alternatives and good food options before you begin any food plan.

We also have 5 certified Feeding Therapists on staff to assist you and your child with any feeding needs or goals.

Join Integrated Autism Therapies – A Unique Opportunity for BCBAs

At Integrated Autism Therapies (IAT), we offer a comprehensive approach supporting individuals on the autism spectrum both in home and in a clinic setting. We are a one-of-a-kind service provider, offering Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), and Occupational Therapy (OT)—all conveniently available onsite, ensuring a collaborative and integrative approach to treatment.

Unlike larger organizations, we are intentionally smaller, with two specialized centers located just blocks apart:
• Sensory Clinic – A naturalistic environment designed for clients who benefit from sensory integration. This clinic features an indoor sensory gym equipped with swings, slides, a foam pit, a 60-ft zipline, a full-sized trampoline, and interactive floor-projected games. Additionally, we provide quiet treatment rooms for clients who require a more structured setting.

• Life Skills Center – Located just two blocks away, this center is tailored for individuals focused on developing life skills for maximum independence or those who thrive in a low-stimulation environment.

To support the needs of both facilities, we are hiring a full-time salaried BCBA to join our team of dedicated professionals. Our goal is to provide high-quality, comprehensive care that leads to the best possible outcomes for each client.

About IAT

IAT offers in-home Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA Therapy), Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, etc. By mid-October we will be opening our first clinic in West Jordan. Clients will have to option to choose in-home services, clinic services, or both. Our new clinic will be the first of it’s kind in Utah! It will include a large sensory gym that will also offer open gym times, special events, birthday parties, support groups, and more for families and individuals with special needs.

Our unique program provides parents with the option to integrate science-based autism therapies into their child’s program plans. IAT also understands the importance of inflammation and gut health in behavior and focus issues; so we work along with Functional Nutrition, Functional Medicine, and Positive Psychology professionals to spot strengths, identify barriers, and address the root causes of health and behavioral issues that are often overlooked in individuals under the autism spectrum.

We understand that to best serve each individual client, and simplify life for families, it is important to integrate all autism therapy services and include the caregiver and family in the development of each client program plan. Through our collaborative team efforts, and networking with other therapy services, we will strive to provide a safe, effective, judgment free, and supportive therapy environment that enables our clients to get the most out of their autism services and improve quality of life.
