Neighborhood Vet today donated $1,000 to Support Kiroli Park Ice Storm Recovery!
In a meaningful show of community support, The Neighborhood Vet presented a $1,000 donation on Friday, March 27, 2026, to Staci Albritton Mitchell, Mayor of the City of West Monroe, during a special presentation held at the clinic.
The donation was made possible through a recent T-shirt fundraising initiative inspired by the City’s inaugural Pet Mayor campaign—where Plumber the Clinic Cat captured the hearts of residents and was elected as West Monroe’s first Pet Mayor in 2025. Proceeds from the T-shirt sales were generously matched
by The Neighborhood Vet, culminating in the $1,000 contribution.
"We appreciate the support of everyone in the community who contributed to Plumber's campaign and t-shirt drive that made this donation possible. We look forward to continuing to support Mayor Mitchell and our local Kiroli Park Foundation." -Dr. Keri Cataldo-Rogers
Funds were directed to the Kiroli Foundation to support ongoing recovery efforts at Kiroli Park following significant damage caused by a winter ice storm earlier this year.
Kiroli Park, the largest municipal park in the region, sustained extensive damage during the late January storm, with over a thousand trees impacted and numerous park structures damaged due to falling limbs and heavy ice accumulation. The severity of the damage forced the park’s temporary closure, as conditions were deemed unsafe for public access while cleanup and repairs were underway.
In some areas of the park, the destruction was so widespread that crews were tasked with removing large volumes of fallen and damaged trees, underscoring the scale of the recovery effort.
“We are truly grateful to The Neighborhood Vet for their generous donation to the Kiroli Foundation,” said West Monroe Mayor Staci Albritton Mitchell. “The staff of The Neighborhood Vet have been strong supporters of the West Monroe community, and this generous donation is just one example of their willingness to truly make West Monroe a great place to live. This donation will go a long way to rehabilitate Kiroli Park, and we can’t wait to celebrate with their staff and Plumber the Cat sometime this summer when the park reopens to the public!”
The Neighborhood Vet’s initiative highlights the power of local businesses to turn community engagement into tangible impact. By connecting a fun, community-wide campaign with a meaningful cause, the clinic helped transform enthusiasm into direct support for one of West Monroe’s most treasured public spaces.
“This donation reflects the very best of West Monroe—community-driven, compassionate, and committed to preserving the places that bring us together,” said Kristopher Kelley, Director of the WMWO Chamber during the presentation.
The Kiroli Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing and preserving Kiroli Park and other local green spaces, relies on community support, private contributions, and fundraising efforts to sustain and improve the park for future generations.
Community members were encouraged to join in the recovery effort by making a donation to the Kiroli Foundation. Contributions can be made online through the City of West Monroe’s Kiroli Park page or by contacting the park office directly, with every gift helping to restore and strengthen this vital community asset.
