My King of Hearts, Nicolas William Ferran
January 12 · Lantana, FL ·
I have been trying to find the right words to let our friends and family know what Nico was diagnosed with but every time I start writing I scratch it out, change it, change it again and then start over. I realized there are no right words, no correct or incorrect way to announce it but I will
try to keep you all informed so here it goes... Nico was diagnosed with a significant heart defect known as Transposition of the Great Arteries or TGA when I was around 5 months pregnant. Basically, a normal heart is designed to circulate red and blue blood. The blue blood creates oxygen for the body, including for the brain to keep things normal. Nico's Heart was created to only create red blood...his arteries were switched when created. So, the surgery has to switch them back so he can mix the red and blue blood and live a long, heathy, great normal life with us in his own! The good news is that this was diagnosed this early on so there is a plan and we have a GREAT team of doctors on our side. I will be delivering at Baptist in Miami and baby Nico and daddy will be transported to Miami Childrens hospital shortly after. We have recently met the doctors and surgeons we are teaming up with to save our babies life and toured both hospitals including the Cardiac ICU unit at Miami Childrens. It is going to be a journey for us as a family and for Nico but we have faith the man above has it all under control. I am not leaving the city of Miami without my boy! ♡ I just want you all to keep us in your thoughts and prayers!!!! Questions are welcome, most days I am strong but some day I am weak.
****Please understand I do not use Google to learn about his diagnosis as I was advised not to by our team of doctors. I have learned about everything I know through them and that is the only way I will....so please keep google information separate from me****
God Bless
