Fertility treatments. Postpartum recovery. Perimenopause. Menopause.
Across each of these stages, women often show up in claims data under mental health: anxiety, depression, fatigue.
But here’s the problem, most of these claims don’t reflect the root cause.
Hormonal fluctuations during these life transitions can mimic psychiatric symptoms, yet they’re rarely screened for. The result?
A growing number of women are misdiagnosed, under-treated, and cycled through ineffective care, all while their true needs go unmet.
For organizations, this means ballooning disability claims, poor retention, and declining engagement, especially among mid-career women. But more importantly, it reflects a systemic failure to understand what women in the workplace are actually going through.
The data is speaking. But we’re not listening to the right signals.
If we want to lead in preventive care, reduce misdiagnosis, and close equity gaps in health benefits, hormone health has to be part of the conversation.
This isn’t a women's issue. It's a systems issue. And it’s time we treated it that way.
