The Ontario Good Samaritan Act was brought into law May 4, 2017 to help folks seek medical help without fear of prosecution.
This overdose related law provides legal protection if you’re high or have drugs on you in most situations.
You're only protected by the Good Samaritan act for personal use of small amounts of drugs. You are not covered if:
You have a warrant, are dealing or producing drugs, have a large amount on you, or are committing other crimes.
In those cases: give naloxone! Call 911! Leave right away! And make sure to leave the door open for medical help to access!!!
Always use with a buddy! You will be protected with the Good Samaritan Act act for your own drug use!
Give naloxone, call 911, give a detailed description of where you are, then give rescue breaths while you wait for medical support.
Similar laws exist across Canada and the United States. Check your local laws to make sure you are covered!!!
