As part of our holistic approach, we offer outings for patients to experience moments of joy beyond our walls. Recently, our volunteer Jenney and Joanna, Manager of Psychosocial, Wellness & Outreach, accompanied one of our patients on an outing to the top of the CN Tower.

Holistic care means making space for meaningful experiences—both big and small.

We recently welcomed Shirlee Sharkey, CEO Emerita of SE Health, to Journey Home Hospice.

Her vision for compassionate, equitable end-of-life care continues to guide and inspire our work. We’re thankful for her continued encouragement and belief in the impact we can create together.

We were honoured to welcome Shirlee Sharkey, CEO Emerita of SE Health to Journey Home Hospice, a proud program of Saint Elizabeth Foundation, for a wonderful afternoon of conversation and shared vision.

Shirlee has long been a champion for compassionate, innovative care, and her leadership continues to inspire our work, especially as we advance the SaintElizabethFoundation National Centre for Equity in End of Life Care.

We are deeply grateful for her ongoing encouragement and belief in the power of social impact, even from the sidelines. Her legacy reminds us that lasting change is built on vision, collaboration, and a commitment to those most in need.

☀️ Hot Day, Warm Hearts in Downtown Windsor! ❤️

This evening, our SE Health Erie St. Clair Service Delivery Centre, Saint Elizabeth Foundation teams, led by our amazing ambassadors Anna and Kerri, along with family members and friends, laced up their sneakers in support of Journey Home Hospice Windsor.

Not only did we walk to raise funds for compassionate end-of-life care for people experiencing homelessness, we also spread kindness on the streets of downtown Windsor by handing out restaurant gift cards and cold treats to those in need on this scorching 32°C summer day. 🥶🍦

A huge thank you to Anna, Kerri, our incredible walkers, our generous donors, sponsors, and everyone who cheered us on. Your support helps ensure JourneyHomeHospice Windsor continues to be a place of dignity, care, and compassion.

From all of us at the Saint Elizabeth Foundation, we are deeply grateful. Together, we are making a difference, one step and one popsicle at a time! 👟🍧

We were pleased to welcome Victoria Heaslip from Ontario Health | Santé Ontario for a tour and conversation at Journey Home Hospice, a program of the Saint Elizabeth Foundation.

We shared the important work of JourneyHomeHospice, our grief and bereavement services, and our unique and specialized Centre for Equity in End-of-Life Care, a national initiative dedicated to advancing equity, compassion, and access in hospice and palliative care.

We are grateful for our partnership with Ontario Health | Santé Ontario and look forward to the continued growth of services for the most vulnerable populations at end of life, while also acting as a teaching and learning facility for healthcare professionals across the GTA, Ontario, and beyond.

We were delighted to host Nicole Robinson and Lindsay Yarrow from Healthcare Excellence Canada at Journey Home Hospice, a specialized program of Saint Elizabeth Foundation.

We learnt about their amazing work and shared about ours, including insights on our newly launched National Centre for Equity in End-of-Life Care. Together, we explored opportunities to advance equitable access to hospice and palliative care across Canada.

We look forward to continued collaboration in shaping a more compassionate, inclusive future for end-of-life care.

Have you ever wondered what motivates a person to volunteer at Journey Home Hospice? We're having our Saint Elizabeth Foundation volunteers share why it is so joyous and rewarding to be part of a team that cares for people experiencing homelessness and end-of-life.

Patrick has a weekly shift and JHH and his friendly, welcoming personality allows him to easily connect with residents. He has a passion for equity and selflessly will come in whenever necessary to sit for bed-side vigils with residents - ensuring nobody is ever alone in their last moments.

“Journey Home Hospice is such a special place," said Patrick. "The care offered to those who come to the hospice is extraordinary and reminds us all that no matter your circumstance, we all deserve to be treated as equals."

Join Journey Home Hospice, a program of Saint Elizabeth Foundation, dedicated to offering 24/7 residential hospice palliative care to individuals and families facing homelessness and structural vulnerability.

We are currently in search of a caring Registered Practical Nurse to be part of our team in Windsor!

Key qualifications include:
✅ Minimum 1 year of hospice palliative care experience
✅ Proficiency in supporting structurally vulnerable populations (e.g., homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use, poverty)
✅ Valid Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)
✅ LEAP Certificate (or readiness to obtain within 6 months of employment)

that Journey Home Hospice offers complementary therapies, like art therapy, to our residents and their loved ones?

Art therapy can help with pain & symptom management, aid in psychosocial care & offer a creative outlet for those who participate. Some pieces that are made in art therapy sessions become beautiful legacy pieces for a resident's loved ones - allowing their spirit and memory to live on in their creation.

The Saint Elizabeth Foundation team had an absolute blast joining the SE Health Erie St. Clair Service Delivery Centre Staff Association for their annual summer BBQ! 🌭☀️🥤

What a phenomenal day connecting with this incredible team of passionate, dedicated individuals who go above and beyond every day for our patients and families. 💙

Great food, great laughs, and even greater people, this is what community and care look like in action! 🙌
