On June 27, 2018, our Overdose Prevention Site opened its doors to clients with six months of funding from the Kathleen Wynne government and a dream of providing low barrier supervised consumption services to Street Health's existing clients. Seven years later we are one of only four remaining sites in the city. We have hosted over 14 500 visits and reversed over 350 overdoses onsite. We have laughed, we have cried, we have resuscitated people in full PPE during a global pandemic. We have managed to stay open with (shamefully) no government funding through donations only (link in bio - we need your support!).
We know that harm reduction saves lives and people who use drugs deserve the same kindness, compassion, chance at a good life, and access to healthcare as everyone else - whether they are interested in treatment or not. We will keep fighting for a fairer and more compassionate world for people who use substances and for all people. #
