The Intersection of Narcissism and Neurodivergence
Part 1: Life with a Narcissist

🧠 ⚡️ New Substack post. Link to full article in Bio and below. So many of you have talked about surviving a narcissistic parent or partner. Me too. This is part one of a three part series on narcissism to help fight the gaslighting and crazy making of our tormentors by providing an in depth analysis of NPD and how it sometimes shows up alongside BPD, ADHD and Autism.

I of course do not mean that all Autistic and AuDHDers make great therapists. Some do and some don’t. Just like not all neurotypical or non-Autistic people make good therapists. Some do and some don’t. Nor do I believe that Autistic or AuDHD therapists are the right therapists for all people. Just like neurotypical therapists are not automatically and universally the right therapists for all people. But I am sick and tired and pi**ed that Autistics are consistently denied entry into therapeutic professions soley because we are Autistic because the assumption is Autism is a disqualifier in being good at therapy.

Does anybody else use a small talk system like this? I realize looking back I could not stand small talk and so had to come up with a system that helps me mask, gives me info for my bottom up processing, gives me a sense of control, and keeps my ADHD side engaged.

Together, we dive into conversations surrounding Autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, neurodivergence, rebellion, and those throughout history who challenged society, disrupted systems, and became catalysts for revolution and change. We question the way the world defines effective treatment of neurodivergent populations and explore how many of the people who changed history were once misunderstood, rejected, or labeled.
This episode is about trauma.
It is about forgiveness.
It is about the cost of silence and the courage of truth.

The (Over) Pathologization of ADHD and Autism

I am reposting this Substack article (link to to my Substack in bio) because it is an important companion piece to the article “The Case for Late/Adult ADHD & Autism Diagnoses.” It can be hard to find an affordable assessment and unfortunately you have to be wary of predatory practitioners. Part of my work is training more therapists to be able to diagnose and treat ADHD and Autism as they would alongside any other diagnoses and to call out structural barriers that unnecessarily pathologize ADHD and Autism.

I made this video because I am tired of seeing a false equivalency between autism and narcissism and ADHD and narcissism. These traits can be connected, but they are not the same thing and to understand and hold people accountable I think it is helpful to be accurate in understanding these dynamics. This is a common pattern I see between neurodivergence and narcissism.

ADHD Meds for S//x? Groundbreaking. But for real, they can help improve focus and give you more energy for s//x. Also, the book Magnificent S//x: Lessons from Extraordinary Lovers is fantastic. I am not affiliated with them or sponsored by them, I just love that book.

We are understanding more and more how our emotions and mental health are linked to our immune system. Excited to share this and more on what I am learning about mental health, immune response and neurodivergence in the weeks to come!
