I keep posting on narcissism because narcissists cause so much damage to others; and I see so many of my neurodivergent clients and friends blaming themselves for not realizing the red flags sooner. But that’s what narcissists do, they work to trick us into letting our gaurds down, to hide their true red flags. Hopefully if your seeing this and struggling with a narcissist it helps.

Figuring out how to self-regulate but not avoid our partners is one of the most important skills we can develop to create healthy relationships. The first step in this is realizing why we go on the attack when we feel overly reliant on our partner’s opinion of us but don’t want to be.

The need for reassurance that we are not being rejected leads us to behave in ways in which we cannot center others emotional experiences making us appear as selfish and self-centered.

Intellectualization is something so many of my CPTSD, ADHD, and Autistic clients struggle with that I wanted to make an explainer video if you are curious about what it means, why it happens, and if you or a loved one are mistaking it for emotional regulation/maturity.

The Autism Tax is an unfair social burden resulting in discrimination and lost opportunities for Autistic people when interacting with non-Autistic people and their communication expectations. The use of direct communication is just one manifestation of this tax. Please excuse my mistaken use of “neurotypical” as a stand in for “non-Autistic.” I want to acknowledge that not all non-Autistic are neurotypical.
