It is an ancient, thousands of years old Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that may promote physical, emotional and spiritual healing. It is a gentle and hands on method performed with the client fully clothed lying on a massage table. Many clients fall asleep or at the least experience deep relaxation. It is used in many medical facilities to assist patients with decreasing stress, healing and recovery from illness, symptoms of chemotherapy and surgery. There have been scientific studies and research to support the effectiveness of Reiki treatment.
