What goals have you set for yourself for 2025? 📝 Is going to therapy one of your goals? 🧑🏼‍💼

The stigma still exists that “if I go to therapy, there must be something wrong with me” and that’s just not true! The majority of people go to therapy to be the best versions of themselves NOT for other people. To be honest, your therapist probably goes to therapy or has done their own therapy. It doesn’t have to be scary and you don’t have to dread it! 😃

Find a therapist you connect with and allow them to help you achieve your goals and become the best version of yourself! 💪🏼

Reach out today and let’s chat about where you want to be this time next year! 📱

Counseling is about so much more than “laying on a couch talking about your feelings”- it’s about identity 🤔 , self-compassion 💜 , celebrating a moment 🎉, setting boundaries 🚧, and building relationships🦹🏼‍♀️ (among other things).

It’s not always hard-sometimes it’s fun and we laugh 😆 ! I love when my clients share their experiences with me or get excited for me when I have something coming up (vacation, wedding, concerts, etc).

As we close 2024, I just want to say how grateful I am to my clients and my fellow colleagues! ☺️

What was your top memory, experience, moment, or highlight of 2024? If just making it to 2025 is it, then I’m so dang proud of you 👏🏻 !

My 2024 moment…seeing Taylor Swift in New Orleans with my nephew!

Today is Election Day and for many Americans this is causing anxiety 😬 just know you are not alone. I have put together some ideas to decrease anxiety over the next 24-48hrs…

* Turn off the news 📰 - while we all want to be informed, we don’t need to constantly sit in the anxiety the news can create. Here’s a tip…if you want to stay informed, turn on the news and set a timer for 10mins, once the timer goes off, turn it off. Do this once an hour.
* Exercise- go outside for a walk, do some stretching 🙆‍♀️, find a yoga 🧘‍♀️ channel, or whatever you enjoy. Your energy needs a place to go, give it an outlet
* Eat your favorite meal and enjoy a funny movie- this is the best way to avoid all those political ads that are shoved in our face every 10min!
* Don’t forget to breathe 🧘‍♀️- one of my favorite breathing exercises is colored breathing. Give the anxiety in your body a color(I.e. green), now assign a color to feeling calm (i.e. purple), now close your eyes and take a deep breath. On your inhale, Imagine filling up your body with your calm color, on your exhale, imagine blowing out your anxious color. Keep doing this until you can no longer see or feel your anxious color. Once you feel your calm color through your body, you will feel more relaxed.
* Finally- stay away from social media as much as possible. The negativity is real and it is contagious. Don’t engage in arguments or comments against keyboard warriors. If you want to get on social media, follow the same 10min rule as watching the news.

What are you favorite ways to decrease anxiety?! Comment below 👇🏼

Here in the US, and many other countries around the world, Father's Day is upon us. We're thinking of all the people for whom this weekend is especially difficult.

The third Sunday in June (plus all the advertising and social media activity leading up to and around it) seriously sucks for so many people, in so many different ways.

However this Father's Day affects you, one of the most important things we can do for ourselves, especially on extra-difficult days, is be kind to ourselves. Grief requires kindness. Self-kindness. For all you have had to live.

Treating yourself kindly won't change grief itself, but it will make things easier on your mind and your heart.

Self-kindness is recognizing when you need to back off a bit. It's allowing your pain to exist without judgement, in trusting yourself, and in saying yes to what helps and no to what does not. Kindness means not letting your own mind beat you up.

Whatever your loss — father-related or no — I hope this weekend gifts you with something that lets you feel held, if only for a moment.

How does this thing impact you? Is it hard for you, or is it a non-issue? If it's not a sore point for you, how does the father-related pain of others affect you? Let us know in the comments.

NOTE: If you do not identify with or understand why something was included on this graphic, that's ok. That also does NOT give you license to judge, question, or complain about it in the comments. Please keep your opinions about other people's grief to yourself. This community is a NO GRIEF-SHAMING zone.

Kids need their caregivers to model how to manage the good, the tough, and the confusing! This is something I almost always address in play therapy. Don’t be afraid to talk to your play therapist about how YOU can support your kids!
