Ok sooooo I pulled the trigger and ate my pride.

I now have a donation option if anyone would like to donate to our farm- The Barefoot Medicine Farm. Wild Woman Medicine at the Barefoot Medicine Farm

Why? Because I have been on the fence for years about continuing the services I provide: clinical herbalism, herb farming, herbal education, stewardship of 5 acres of botanical sanctuary.

It sounds awesome, doesn’t it?

It is awesome. But I am one person doing all of this. If I work outside harvesting and weeding herbs, I can’t be inside promoting my practice and finding clients. If I work on my website, accounting, and client protocols, I can’t be blending teas or protecting baby Ginseng from the deer.

Every few months I wonder if I should just go ahead and get a temp job somewhere. Or work in a grocery store.

I’ve been supplementing income by teaching yoga classes and vending. These, too, take me from the real work I’m trying to do.

I know this is a hard time for everyone- my timing is pretty poor. But with so many federal workers furloughed in my community, it trickles down to a lot of us small businesses owners.

To make a long story short, I know a lot of people have been very supportive over the last 5 years since I stopped teaching in the school system. Words of encouragement are great, but they don’t pay for the things needed to keep this going.

Every little bit is helpful (maybe one day I can start paying someone to process the herbs and do my social media 😝)

Donate to the Barefoot Medicine Farm: a woman-owned local small business hopeing to heal the world one person (and plant) at a time.

My WHY

When I try to convince myself to stop growing herbs, and then I remember how much of a difference this makes for clients.

Feels so good to know, if I wanted to, I could have grown 100% of the herbs in this formula.

I’ve waited as long as I could to harvest my love, my favorite flower, my favorite native plant: Passionflower or Passiflora incarnata.

Am I using this beautiful fall day to bathe in these luxurious leaves? You bet I am.

Some of these will become a fresh tincture, but the rest will be dried and processed for teas.

Great for those cyclical thoughts that just won’t shut off, I love working with Passionflower in a variety of preparations for calming anxiety, particularly related to the mind. 🌀

If you read my newsletter that went out this morning (and if you don’t get the newsletter you can subscribe on my website), I mentioned looking forward to being able to incorporate more self care now that things are winding down for the season.

I’ve been really excited to take some yoga classes again. People don’t realize that teaching yoga 5 times a week doesn’t equate to being in shape. I often find there’s no time to TAKE any classes 😂.

Yesterday I took an awesome class with Jaime at and - man- I am FEELING it this morning.

So glad I have friends at who carry incredible products. As I lie here soaking up some full spectrum CBD (yes- I’m typing this in the bath with my coffee) I wanted to give both Fiddlers Green and a shout out for the quality of their products.

I’m low maintenance in my self care, but also a pretty hardcore snob when it comes to products. I am not easily impressed. But these folks get it right 👏 every 👏 time.

I will admit- I finally upgraded from washing my face with just water and occasionally soap (I’m a dirty hippie 😝) to actually using products and *gasp* tallow. Yes, tallow, which I had been grossed out and opposed to for years.

Look at me! Putting on my big girl pants (finally) at 43 and doing some skincare routine.

*Note: I did not get paid for this endorsement. I just think it’s important to give credit when credit is due.

And also: support your local farms, farmers, businesses, and community in general!

Not to poo poo the herbs I buy in bulk to sell to the public, but I gotta say…

my homegrown medicine is DANK! 🌿🍵

Check out the color! 💚

We got a beautiful blend here with Passionflower holding down the fort, along with a bunch of other herbs grown on my very own Barefoot Medicine Farm.

My herb clients only get the best of the best 😎
