I piddle.

Taking the day off allows me to piddle.

Rest and digest.

Have fun.

Be goofy.

Play in nature.

Adulting is overrated.

I don’t think this has happened before.

I can’t believe I sold out my first herb walk of the year! With over 2 weeks to go!

Good thing I’m having one a month- not including other herb classes here on the farm. Make sure you sign up soon! They’re going fast!

So happy to be back at the market next week!

☀️ Dandelions are so full of nutrients, and are a great plant ally this time of year, from root to tip!
🌱
A lot of times when I’m weeding I’m also collecting plant medicine ✌️

Love this time of year! So much to eat!

Want to learn more about what you can eat outside? Come to my foraging class May 17th!

and I discussed my dumpster- diving recently, which I admit is not technically diving into dumpsters, but dude- check out this score!

I came upon this one by accident while driving Heidi to school. Was I embarrassed to hastily back up my car and shuffle next to someone’s driveway in my bathrobe and Ren and Stimpy pajamas with my hair tied in a bathrobe to erratically shove a lamp in my car? Slightly. But it was worth it.

I’m sure the Lemon Balm will rebound, but the first round of harvest I was planning on collecting this week will not be happening.

Our weather in MD has gone from 90s to 20s in a couple of days- that’s not normal for us.

There’s just too many things to cover when the heat has sped up a lot of the growth.

Please support your local growers during these hard times- their businesses will be effected more than mine.

Ah yes, another chicken down in my office as I try to play veterinarian to a hen with vent gleet, and possibly sour crop. The sour crop I’ve handled before, but massaging Monistat on her undercarriage 2 times a day for a week? Yuck. I won’t even show you what that looked like. I bathed her first, but if you like looking up disgusting things, look up vent gleet. You’re lucky- at least you can’t smell it!

Gotta stay relevant! 😂

Cleavers is a ‘weed’ often overlooked. Right now it’s getting a lot of attention as a lymphatic herb. Not my go-to lymphatic herb if I’m being honest, but still one worth using in certain circumstances.

There are a number of herbs I grow that I DON’T harvest- like Ginseng.

Part of being an herbalist is teaching folks about ethical harvesting and herbs that need our help due to diminishing numbers. Stewarding the land is a beautiful way to care for our plant allies 💚
