Ok sooooo I pulled the trigger and ate my pride.
I now have a donation option if anyone would like to donate to our farm- The Barefoot Medicine Farm. Wild Woman Medicine at the Barefoot Medicine Farm
Why? Because I have been on the fence for years about continuing the services I provide: clinical herbalism, herb farming, herbal education, stewardship of 5 acres of botanical sanctuary.
It sounds awesome, doesn’t it?
It is awesome. But I am one person doing all of this. If I work outside harvesting and weeding herbs, I can’t be inside promoting my practice and finding clients. If I work on my website, accounting, and client protocols, I can’t be blending teas or protecting baby Ginseng from the deer.
Every few months I wonder if I should just go ahead and get a temp job somewhere. Or work in a grocery store.
I’ve been supplementing income by teaching yoga classes and vending. These, too, take me from the real work I’m trying to do.
I know this is a hard time for everyone- my timing is pretty poor. But with so many federal workers furloughed in my community, it trickles down to a lot of us small businesses owners.
To make a long story short, I know a lot of people have been very supportive over the last 5 years since I stopped teaching in the school system. Words of encouragement are great, but they don’t pay for the things needed to keep this going.
Every little bit is helpful (maybe one day I can start paying someone to process the herbs and do my social media 😝)
Donate to the Barefoot Medicine Farm: a woman-owned local small business hopeing to heal the world one person (and plant) at a time.
