Solstice Blessing
by Melissa Spencer
Summer solstice
the sun rises high into blue skies,
stretching golden arms
across the canvas our world
The longest day of the year,
and time lingers
like bees hovering over blossoms
Summer blooms into full life,
the spirits of flowers
whisper open
as each blossom reaches
towards their fullest potential,
each petal a prayer of hope
Insects, birds, and bees
drift on gentle breezes
through temporary jungles
of perennials,
blooms bowing beneath their weighted wings,
offering sweet nectar
to nourish and heal
Above us,
deep blue skies cradle
fluffy white clouds
a soft and shifting backdrop
to the mighty sun,
his brilliance awe inspiring
and generous,
warming our spirits,
and kissing our souls
with light
And on this longest day,
maybe, just maybe
we pause,
we breathe,
we feel grateful and blessed
we ask the singing bowl to sing in honor of this day,
we ask our hearts to open and expand fully and accept the change of season
The sun holds us
with tender,
loving
care as we honor the light that also glows from within our Truest Self
