Key highlights from the study:

- We investigated cue-related neural activity after 72 h smartphone restriction.
- Time-dependent changes were found in reward processing brain regions.
- Time-dependent changes were linked to dopaminergic and serotonergic transmission.
- Significant associations between parietal cortex activity and craving were found.
- Smartphone restriction modulates neural key hubs of salience and reward networks.
