From E. "I have been a fan of musical theater my entire life. I was in the chorus in middle and high school, but after high school, left my singing for another day. That day come around about 12 years ago when I was taking Pilates lessons with Jennifer and I found out she was not only an amazing singer but also taught voice.
Voice lessons were on my bucket list once I had retired, but didn’t really know where to start. Where I started with Jennifer, was to learn to breath, how to stand, the details of using head and chest voice. So much more to singing that I could have imaged.
Jennifer has been a great guide and teacher in my singing journey. She has taught me to sing operatic arias as well as music from Broadway shows and contemporary artists. She is open to music I select as well as making recommendations to expand my abilities. And she is always encouraging. We often work on more than one song at a time, even coming back to ones that we worked on several months before. Each time, we find new things to explore and improve, building on my experience. She is always sharing new techniques and theory she has acquired from attending conferences. She is herself an artist who performs with local opera companies, so is continuingly learning and challenging herself as well. She understands what her students are working towards.
Her continued support helped me to develop the confidence to sing in front of other people. This has translated to me joining our congregation’s choir as well as performing at recitals and feeling confident in my abilities.
As an adult, it sometimes takes more time and work to achieve something that for a young person might come easier, however, Jennifer has the patience and knowledge to help you achieve something you might never has known you could. We even continued lessons through the Covid-19 pandemic (remotely). It was a highlight of my week. I remember doing a recital on zoom which many of my family members from around the country could attend.
I would recommend Jennifer to anyone who is interested in learning the joy of singing, no matter how young or old you are. "
