Starting today, Arvada Fire will begin providing life-saving whole blood to patients experiencing significant blood loss before they get to the hospital thanks to a partnership with Lutheran Hospital. This milestone was made possible through the dedication of Lutheran’s Blood Bank and Trauma Departments, and the outstanding collaboration with Arvada Fire & EMS.

By delivering whole blood in the field, EMS providers with Arvada Fire can begin resuscitation sooner and give patients a better chance of survival. Timely blood transfusions can mean the difference between life and death.

This is the first pre-hospital whole blood program to launch in the Denver Metro area. Arvada Fire paramedic supervisors carry blood in specialized coolers and are trained and equipped to provide whole blood transfusions in the field to patients experiencing substantial blood loss.

Vitalant also helps provide the blood sourced for this program.

Intermountain Health Saint Joseph Hospital's Mobile Mammography Bus is hitting the road across the Front Range to bring convenient, high-quality breast cancer screenings to our communities.

Regular mammograms are one of the most effective ways to detect breast cancer early — when it’s most treatable. By meeting people where they are, this new mobile unit helps remove barriers to care and ensures more women can prioritize their health.

🐾 Please join us in welcoming our newest teammates — K-9s Hulk, Six, and Bito and their handlers, JJ, Jared, and Devon!

To help maintain a safe and healing environment for patients, visitors and caregivers, Lutheran has introduced K-9 security teams to our hospital. These specially trained dogs and their handlers patrol the campus, offering both protection and comfort.

Unlike traditional police dogs, our K-9s are trained to be approachable, social, and even comforting — especially in high-stress areas like the Emergency Department. They can help de-escalate situations, deter unsafe behaviors, and provide emotional support to caregivers, patients, and visitors.

We’re proud to bring this innovative program to Lutheran to support safety, healing, and peace of mind for everyone who walks through our doors. 💙

Lutheran was proud to sponsor the Farmers 5000 last weekend to benefit Wheat Ridge High School!

Our caregivers cheered on participants by running the water station mid-way through the race—supporting runners and walkers as they pushed toward the finish line.

Since 1981, the Farmers 5000 has been a true community tradition, raising funds to support educational and special programs at Wheat Ridge High School while promoting physical fitness and school spirit. We’re grateful to be part of such a meaningful event!
