Lutheran Hospital is proud to be the main sponsor of all things holidays in Golden this year and we can’t wait to celebrate with our community at the Golden Holiday Parade! 🎄🎅

Our caregivers have been hard at work decorating gingerbread people, trees, candy, and more to represent their departments. All their creations will be featured on our Gingerbread Hospital Float, complete with its own helipad! 🚁

Bring your family, bundle up, and come cheer us on as the parade kicks off this Saturday in downtown Golden. This is one of the season’s biggest events, and we’d love to see you there!

The parade route runs down Washington Avenue from 10th Street to 13th Street, starting at 10:30 a.m.

What a night at the 9NEWS Parade of Lights! ✨

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate one of Denver’s most magical holiday traditions. From the glowing floats and giant balloons to the marching bands and cultural performances, downtown absolutely sparkled with community spirit.

A special highlight for us was seeing our Intermountain Health caregivers walk alongside Santa’s float as Santa’s Healthers, making sure he was parade-ready for his big night. 🎅💙 Their joy and energy lit up the route and reminded us what it means to show up for our community in every season.

We were also thrilled to join the Downtown Denver Partnership and cheer on Denver Summit FC as this year’s Grand Marshal!

Thanks for making this year’s Parade of Lights unforgettable. Until next year — happy holidays! ✨🎄

We’re proud to honor Dan Newstrand, retail manager in Nutrition Services, as one of our newest L.O.V.E. Award recipients. Dan never expected to be recognized, but anyone who knows him isn’t surprised at all.

“I come into work every day with the mentality that every person I interact with—I want to make their day a better one,” Dan shared. That mindset, rooted in empathy and service, guides the way he leads his team and cares for our patients and their families.

Dan’s nomination came after a powerful act of kindness: When a young mother was admitted after a stroke, her husband—carrying their three-week-old baby—stopped by the cafeteria for a meal. After hearing their story, Dan quietly paid for his meal and coordinated room service deliveries so the father could stay close to his wife and newborn.

💙 Thank you, Dan, for leading with heart and making our hospital a more caring place—one interaction at a time.

We’re proud to share that Lutheran Hospital has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group—one of the nation’s leading organizations for measuring patient safety.

This top grade reflects our commitment to reducing errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, and highlights the daily efforts of our caregivers who put patient safety first.

“This celebrates our achievements in protecting hospital patients from preventable harm and errors. I am extremely proud of our caregivers who are responsible for this achievement,” said Andrea Burch, president of Lutheran Hospital.

This marks the 17th time Lutheran has earned an “A” Grade. It's a true testament to our culture of safety and high-quality care.

Big congratulations to our Lutheran caregivers who represented us on the national stage at this year’s Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) conference in Chicago! 👏✨

Andrea Silva, BSN, RN, ICU charge nurse, and Wendy Moline, MS, PT, Therapy Manager, presented their poster on implementing “Awake and Walking”—an evidence-based ICU initiative that reduces sedation, prioritizes mobility for ventilated patients, and has led to fewer ventilator days, lower delirium and VAP rates, and shorter hospital stays.

Stephanie Vega, Trauma Program Manager at Lutheran and volunteer nurse consultant for the TQIP Best Practice Committee, also delivered an oral presentation on integrating the Chest Wall Best Practice Guideline.

We’re incredibly proud of their expertise, innovation, and dedication to advancing trauma care. 💙

We had an amazing turnout at Lutheran's lung health event! 💙🫁

Our inflatable lungs drew in dozens of community members — with 40–50 people stopping by to learn more about lung health and early detection. Thanks to lung screenings scheduled ahead of time, our team completed multiple screenings, and we connected with several others interested in getting screened.

Alongside the event, our Lung Cancer Awareness table will remain up through the end of the month. The white ribbon is open for anyone to sign in honor of loved ones impacted by lung cancer — a simple, powerful way to show support.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and helped spread awareness. And a big thank-you to our caregivers for continuing to champion prevention, education, and early detection in our community. 💙
