🚨 New Law Alert: HALT Fentanyl Act Signed Into Law 🚨

The HALT Fentanyl Act was officially signed into law on July 2, 2024, and here’s what you need to know ⬇️

⚖️ This law permanently places all fentanyl-related substances (FRS) into Schedule I — the strictest drug category. That means:
✔️ Harsher penalties for making, selling, or possessing ANY fentanyl-like substance
✔️ Law enforcement can move quicker on fentanyl-related cases
✔️ It targets new, deadly synthetic opioids trying to “slip through the cracks”

🔬 It also aims to support scientific and medical research on fentanyl analogs — trying to strike a balance between enforcement and innovation.

BUT... ⚠️ Critics are speaking out:

Public health experts worry this focuses too much on punishment, not treatment
Advocates fear it could lead to mass incarceration or punish people struggling with addiction
Some researchers say it may block safe studies on less harmful substances
👉 Why this matters: Fentanyl is 50-100x stronger than morphine and a major driver in overdose deaths. This bill could shape how we fight this crisis going forward.
