I hope that my clients see me as validating. But I also hope that they see me as gently challenging their thoughts and behaviors that are keeping them in a cycle that is not helping their healing. The trauma that we experienced growing up is not our fault, where we can work on taking ownership is putting in the work now so that we can break generational trauma. 
Unlike mental health professionals, chatbots are designed to keep you engaged—not necessarily to support your well-being.
