Sedgwick County Health Department Update:

๐Ÿ”ธ From 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, the mobile testing team will be at Pathway Church in Goddard, 18800 W. Kellogg Dr.
๐Ÿ”ธ Currently, the Sedgwick County Health Department is only testing symptomatic residents and certain high-priority professions at no cost.
๐Ÿ”ธ More than 28,000 residents have been tested for COVID-19 and 273 residents were scheduled for testing by the Health Department today.
๐Ÿ”ธ Please call United Way of the Plains at 2-1-1 if you think you should be tested for the disease or if you have general questions about it.

Sedgwick County Health Department Update:

๐Ÿ”ธ A new cluster was identified at Mel Hambelton Ford, 11625 W. Kellogg Dr, Wichita.
๐Ÿ”น If anyone visited the business between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, April 17 or between 8 a.m. and noon on Monday, April 20, please call (316) 660-7300 or United Way of the Plains at 2-1-1 for further evaluation.

๐Ÿ”ธ The criteria for testing have been revised. Residents can be tested if they have at least two symptoms of COVID-19. There are no restrictions on age or underlying condition.
๐Ÿ”ธ KDHE reports that as of noon, April 25 more than 3,400 residents have been tested for COVID-19. The Health Department is currently taking samples of residents who meet the criteria to be tested for the disease at no cost to residents.
๐Ÿ”น We have the capacity to test more people in the County than what we could do previously.
๐Ÿ”น Residents are encouraged to call United Way of the Plains at 2-1-1 if they think they should be tested for COVID-19.
๐Ÿ”น If residents have general questions about COVID-19 they should call United Way of the Plains at 2-1-1.

๐Ÿ”ธ Current orders in place:
๐Ÿ”น Governorโ€™s order banning public gatherings in excess of 10 people is in place until May 1.
๐Ÿ”น Governorโ€™s stay-at-home order is in place until May 3.
๐Ÿ”น There will be a special Board of County Commissioners meeting at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28. It will be streamed on Sedgwick Countyโ€™s YouTube and Facebook channels.

๐Ÿ”ธ Residents may also use the online testing site locator to find a facility nearby that may take samples to test for COVID-19.
๐Ÿ”น Outside of the Health Department and emergency departments, there are local health care facilities that can take samples to test.
๐Ÿ”น Before being tested please call United Way of the Plains 2-1-1 to set up an appointment.

Prevention Measures:

Face Mask Guidance:

๐Ÿ”ธ KDHE notes that homemade masks may be another tool along with the above prevention measures to keep people from unknowingly spreading the virus.
๐Ÿ”ธ Use this acronym when considering safe homemade mask use:
๐Ÿ”น Multi-layered, tightly-woven 100% Cotton. Use a thread count of 180 or higher. Donโ€™t buy surgical or N95 masks.
๐Ÿ”น Avoid your face and remove it from behind. Never touch the front of the mask, and always remove it from behind your head.
๐Ÿ”น Scrap it if itโ€™s damaged, soiled, or doesnโ€™t fit. Make sure itโ€™s breathable and fits snug. Donโ€™t use it while itโ€™s damp, wet, or dirty.
๐Ÿ”น Keep the mask and your hands clean. Wash your hands before you put the mask on/after you take it off. Wash or dispose the mask after every use.

Mental Health Support:

๐Ÿ”ธ COMCARE of Sedgwick County is offering a Support Line for individuals who may be experiencing an elevation in mental health symptoms.
๐Ÿ”ธ Individuals may call (316) 660-1111 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
๐Ÿ”ธ Theyโ€™ll receive resources, coping skill ideas, and encouragement to keep doing what they need to do to stay healthy, emotionally and physically.
๐Ÿ”ธ Residents who are experiencing a mental health crisis should call (316) 660-7500.
