🌟 Investing in the Future of Nursing Excellence 🌟

At Wesley, we believe a healthcare organization is only as strong as its front-line caregivers. Skilled, compassionate nurses not only deliver exceptional patient care but also strengthen the reputation and future of our hospital. 💜

Recently, our nursing leaders, clinical educators and recruitment teams visited Butler Community College nursing students to share why Wesley is the BEST place to begin a nursing career. The team brought incredible energy and passion while highlighting the many ways Wesley supports and empowers our new colleagues.

Building strong partnerships with local nursing programs is an essential part of our recruitment strategy. By connecting with students early, offering education opportunities and showcasing the innovation and expertise within our teams, we’re investing in the next generation of nurses who will shape the future of healthcare.

✨ The future of nursing at Wesley is bright — and we’re proud to be the place where careers begin, grow and thrive. For more information on nursing careers at Wesley, visit https://bit.ly/4gCH8Tz

Whether it's a patient taking their first steps after surgery or finding their voice again after a stroke — these are the moments that define excellence in care.

"A speech language pathologist (SLP) works with individuals across the lifespan targeting evaluation and treatment of swallowing (dysphagia), cognition, language, speech and voicing impairments," said Andie Wood, MS, CCC-SLP. "An SLP working with the adult and geriatric population in the acute care setting will frequently be the patient's first exposure to the profession and I feel it is paramount that this first exposure be positive for the greater good of the profession. We assess and treat patient's suffering from swallowing and cognitive-linguistic impairments resultant from stroke, TBI, dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, etc. We complete imaging of the swallow such as Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) to help in making appropriate recommendations for the safest and least restrictive diet and to guide therapeutic practices.
