This National Burn Awareness Week, we’re joining the American Burn Association in spotlighting this year’s theme: “Burn Prevention Where You Live, Work and Play – Preventing Burns in the Workplace.” While many burns occur in places like kitchens, workshops or industrial settings, prevention starts with awareness wherever you are. Mild, first‑degree burns – often marked by redness, pain or slight swelling – can typically be cared for at home using simple first-aid steps like gently cleaning the area with cool water and soap, applying a thin layer of ointment and covering with sterile, non‑stick gauze. Recently, Nancy Bradfield and Flemish Giant rabbit Pvt. Radar O'Smiley stopped by Wesley Children’s Hospital to spread comfort, joy and a whole lot of cheer to our littlest patients. Rosie’s Snuggle Bunnies is a veteran-founded nonprofit dedicated to providing stress relief and emotional support through animal-assisted interactions — and they’ve been proudly serving our hospital since 2020.

Moments like these reflect the heart of our care: compassion, connection and partnerships that make a meaningful difference in the healing journey of children and families.
