Burn injuries can happen quickly – at home, outdoors or during everyday routines. This National Burn Awareness Week, we’re joining the American Burn Association in spotlighting this year’s theme: “Burn Prevention Where You Live, Work and Play – Preventing Burns in the Workplace.” While many burns occur in places like kitchens, workshops or industrial settings, prevention starts with awareness wherever you are. Explore simple, proactive steps to help keep you and your family safe: https://bit.ly/4bwZSDE

Mild, first‑degree burns – often marked by redness, pain or slight swelling – can typically be cared for at home using simple first-aid steps like gently cleaning the area with cool water and soap, applying a thin layer of ointment and covering with sterile, non‑stick gauze. Over‑the‑counter medication can help with discomfort. Follow the tips we’re sharing here on what to avoid when treating a burn.

For more serious burns, especially those involving deeper tissue or larger areas, prompt medical attention is critical. Emergency rooms are prepared to provide timely care. For complex cases, specialized treatment is available through our broader HCA Healthcare, including 11 American Burn Association-recognized burn centers across nine states.

Do you know what your numbers mean? They can reveal far more about your health than you might think. Blood pressure naturally rises and falls throughout the day, but when it stays high, your risk rises too. 📈 Nearly half of Americans have high blood pressure, often with no symptoms – that’s why high blood pressure is known as the “silent killer.”

There’s almost no better medicine than a smile — and our patients light up every time Rosie the Rabbiter - Rosie's Snuggle Bunnies Inc hop through the doors. 🐰💙

Recently, Nancy Bradfield and Flemish Giant rabbit Pvt. Radar O'Smiley stopped by Wesley Children’s Hospital to spread comfort, joy and a whole lot of cheer to our littlest patients. Rosie’s Snuggle Bunnies is a veteran-founded nonprofit dedicated to providing stress relief and emotional support through animal-assisted interactions — and they’ve been proudly serving our hospital since 2020.

Moments like these reflect the heart of our care: compassion, connection and partnerships that make a meaningful difference in the healing journey of children and families.

Thank you, Rosie’s Snuggle Bunnies, for the joy you bring and the impact you continue to make. 💙
