I ran my longest run ever this morning! Five miles and it felt great! My legs felt good, my breathing was in check, nothing was hurting! I worked on my posture as well. My pace was the slowest it's been since training started, but I wanted to go slow and make sure I could finish. The more miles I do, the more confident I'll get with my pacing and hopefully the faster I'll go. I didn't want to start out too fast and lose steam at the end. I did run out of water though AGAIN! I used my hydration pack but didn't fill it all the way. Lesson learned! Shannon Drew Welch
When you realize that you have time to come home and change after work tomorrow before meeting your friends for a run! I am the master of packing and taking gear with me, but it is nice when I don't have to. #gladilivecloser #pfm18 #pfmjoes Shannon Drew Welch
Shannon's Date Energy Balls
Many of you have asked about my date balls. I usually eat one before a workout for an extra boost of energy. With only a few all natural ingredients, they're super easy to make. The entire process took me only five minutes. I keep these in a Ziplock bag in the fridge and just grab one as needed. They stay good for about a month in the fridge. With the holidays coming up and all the goodies coming into the office, I'll be making a double batch of these to help keep me on track.
Here's the video of me saying goodbye and walking away from the balloons. I did watch them in the sky until I could no longer see them. This signifies the release of something that has had a very strong hold on me for about 8 years.
Tomorrow's "39" challenge is called "Bam bams". My goal is to just do as many as I can. After I watched this video, I realize how great my legs look. They are big, they'll always be big. But they are powerful. They carried me up 2200 stairs in firefighter gear last spring which was my biggest physical achievement ever. Big legs? Yep. Proud of them? Absolutely!
Started off my morning with my new dvd workout. "you are your own gym" by Mark Lauren. I loved it!
