We had the best afternoon with John Ellert, an amazing photographer!
Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day so special.

John Ellert has been photographing the natural world since age 14 and has been drawn to natural beauty for as long as he can remember—with stories from those who knew him as a young child suggesting this fascination began even earlier. Though he pursued music through college and graduate studies, he later returned to photography with renewed seriousness.

As an adult, John studied with Boyd Norton, Nancy Rotenberg, André Gallant, Freeman Patterson, Jack Davis, and many others through seminars and both in-person and online workshops. Influenced by their teachings, he developed a deep interest in how the mind reconstructs the visual field, selectively filling in from the information the eyes provide. His work, therefore, focuses on understanding rather than simply seeing.

John takes great joy in exploring unique qualities of light and travels extensively to photograph throughout the United States and internationally. While he is primarily a fine art landscape and floral photographer, he also enjoys capturing wildlife—including his beloved cats.
