Happy Sunday!

For many of us, Sunday is a reset day. A time to clean, refresh, and refocus for the week ahead. One easy place to start? Your drinking water.

Reusable glass or stainless steel bottles are a great choice for reducing plastic exposure, but they still need regular cleaning. Moist environments can allow mold or mildew to grow, especially in lids, straws, and seals.

A few simple ways to clean your bottle without harsh chemicals:

• Hot water + mild soap: Scrub thoroughly and allow to fully air dry.
• Steam or boiling water rinse: Helps sanitize hard-to-reach areas.
• Vinegar soak: Soak lids or seals in diluted white vinegar, rinse well, and dry completely.
• HOCl (hypochlorous acid): A gentle antimicrobial option some people use for sanitizing surfaces.

Small habits add up. A clean water bottle supports clean drinking water—one more simple step toward a healthier environment for your body.

How do you reset and prepare for the week ahead?

FAQ: If you could only change one habit to reduce toxic exposure… what would it be?

A great place to start is prioritizing organic foods—especially for the produce most heavily treated with pesticides.

Each year, the Environmental Working Group releases the “Dirty Dozen,” a list of fruits and vegetables found to carry the highest levels of pesticide residues when conventionally grown. These foods often have thin skins or are more heavily sprayed during production.

The current Dirty Dozen includes:
🍓 Strawberries
🍃 Spinach
🥬 Kale, Collard & Mustard Greens
🍇 Grapes
🍑 Peaches
🍐 Pears
🍎 Apples
🍑 Nectarines
🌶️ Bell & Hot Peppers
🍒 Cherries
🫐 Blueberries
🥔 Potatoes

When possible, choose organic versions of these foods first. This simple shift can significantly lower your exposure to pesticides and other agricultural chemicals.

Environmental medicine practitioners often look at cumulative toxic load—the everyday exposures that can add up over time. Small changes, like prioritizing organic foods where it matters most, can be a powerful step toward supporting whole-body health.

Sometimes the most powerful reset is the simplest one.

In environmental medicine, we recognize how constant exposure to stressors—chemicals, EMFs, noise, and toxins—can keep the body in a heightened state of reactivity. Stepping outside and reconnecting with nature can help calm the nervous system, support regulation, and allow the body to reset.

This weekend, try grounding.
Take a walk. Sit in the grass. Breathe deeply. Notice how your body feels when it’s supported by the natural world.

Small moments in nature can make a meaningful difference. 🌿

Feeling unwell—but being told “your labs are normal”?

You’re not alone. This is one of the most common experiences patients share when they begin searching for answers.

For 60 years, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine has been a leading voice in environmental medicine—supporting physicians who look beyond routine lab work to uncover the root causes of chronic illness.

Environmental triggers such as mold exposure, toxins, heavy metals, food sensitivities, and gut imbalances can often be the missing piece. AAEM practitioners ask deeper questions, investigate environmental factors, and treat the whole person—not just the lab results.

At AAEM we believe true health begins with understanding the why behind illness — not just managing symptoms. Environmental medicine looks deeper — examining how our air, water, food, and daily exposures influence long-term health.

When we identify root causes, we equip patients and practitioners with knowledge. And knowledge leads to better choices, stronger resilience, and lasting prevention.

This isn’t about fear. It’s about informed action. 🌿

If you’re a practitioner seeking community, education, and leadership in root-cause medicine, we invite you to join AAEM as a member.

HOCL (Hypochlorous Acid) is a powerful, non-toxic disinfectant that’s becoming a favorite in environmentally-minded homes and clinics.

You can find HOCl at places like Amazon.com, The Home Depot or directly from brands like Force Of Clean, Aqua Protego, and Think Smarter U.S.

Look for products around 200–500 PPM for everyday disinfection.

One reason HOCl is so affordable? Many options come as concentrates or home-generated systems, meaning you can dilute with water and dramatically lower the cost per bottle — often making it cheaper than conventional cleaners.

A simple swap that supports a cleaner environment with less chemical load. ✨
