Another big CONGRATULATIONS is in order for GE graduate, Cheri! 🥳🎓 Cheri volunteers at a local non-profit organization. She enjoys socializing with donors and other workers, and helping provide an important service to the community.

Cheri hopes to explore new ways to be active in the community. She is especially interested in social groups, classes to learn new skills, and more volunteer opportunities. 🫶

With the skills she has gained through Greater Expectations, she will undoubtedly succeed in whatever she decides to do! Congrats, Cheri!

Prayers to Carl's family and friends during this time. 🤍 He was an outstanding advocate for ILRC and our mission.

Yesterday, Sunday, March 3rd, a board member and friend of the Independent Living Resource Center passed away. Our hearts are heavy, and he leaves a huge hole in our hearts and our agency. Carl had been on our board since 2014 and was very committed to his board duties and, especially, his passion for serving persons with disabilities, and we were truly blessed to have him involved with us. Not only was he a board member, but he also served on several of our committees and was the chair of our annual ILRC Golf Tournament, which he greatly loved. Carl always had a smile on his face and loved to joke, but he never forgot the importance of helping others with disabilities. The community and his friends have lost a remarkable person. He will never be forgotten, and he will be greatly missed. Prayers and thoughts and hugs to Carl’s wife Stacy and their children and siblings and other relatives.

Rest in peace my friend, and fly high.

Wichita’s “Unique Boutique”

Autism Avenue Gift Shoppe is a "unique boutique" and training ground for individuals with autism to enhance social awareness & communication by learning every day skills.

Each individual can generalize the skills learned in our multi-level Greater Expectations autism program as an apprentice in a real, public, yet unique work setting at the shop.

Our mission is to provide a structured, repetitive work environment that delivers a platform for job training & real-world experiences for young adults with disabilities.

When visiting the shop, you’ll find “Sensory Avenue,” a designated corner just for sensory needs, including oral motor chews, fidgets, calming items, etc. Fun and challenging puzzles and games help work on fine motor skills, social skills, and problem-solving skills.
