Catch Abby Jones, PhD, LMFT, Executive Director at The Meadows Outpatient Centers, live on Arizona’s Family as she discusses a topic many experience, but few talk about: the mental health side of Mother’s Day.

💬 On the segment, Abby will share:
✔️ Why Mother’s Day can be triggering for those navigating grief, loss, or strained relationships
✔️ How grief can resurface in waves—especially around holidays
✔️ The emotional impact of “forced celebration” for those struggling with anxiety or depression
✔️ Healthy ways to set boundaries or opt out of traditional expectations
✔️ How to cope with estrangement and create your own meaning for the day

At The Meadows, we recognize that holidays can bring up complex emotions—and healing starts by giving those feelings the space and support they deserve.

Some of the strongest people are the least likely to ask for help.

Active-duty military, veterans, and first responders face trauma most will never fully understand—yet many struggle in silence due to stigma.

Unbroken at The Meadows was created to change that.

A program built for those who have endured and protected. Because resilience doesn’t mean doing it alone.

Kratom is often marketed as “natural” — but that doesn’t mean it’s safe.

Because it’s legal in many states, it can be easy to overlook the risks. But kratom acts on the brain’s opioid receptors, which can lead to dependence, withdrawal, and addiction.

Swipe through to learn:
• What kratom is
• The physical and mental signs of use
• Why it can be dangerously addictive

If you or someone you love may be struggling, understanding the signs is the first step. Connect with us to learn more or start treatment.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month—a time to look beyond the surface of addiction and understand its deeper impact.

As our Senior Fellow, Dr. Tian Dayton, shares, addiction doesn’t just affect the individual—it shapes the entire family system, often in ways that go unseen for years.

The effects can live on in relationships, emotional patterns, and the ways we learn to cope, long after substance use stops. That’s why healing requires more than addressing the behavior—it requires addressing the underlying trauma.

At The Meadows, we focus on treating the whole person and the relational impact of addiction, helping individuals and families move toward lasting, sustainable recovery.

From your late teens into your 20s, it’s a time of figuring out who you are, where you belong, and what comes next. This stage, known as emerging adulthood, is recognized as a distinct phase of development, one that comes with unique challenges and needs. Research shows that young adults benefit from care designed specifically for this in-between stage, not treatment built for adolescents or older adults.

When mental health or substance use challenges are part of that journey, it can leave young adults feeling stuck or uncertain.

At the Claudia Black Young Adult Center, our programming is intentionally built for emerging adults. We meet young people where they are, with developmentally relevant care that supports identity exploration, builds life skills, and addresses trauma, addiction, and co-occurring mental health challenges through connection, structure, and experiential work.

We had the opportunity to host the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit at our warehouse facility for a joint training session alongside our own Meadows K9, Nemo.

The session, led by K9 Officer Steven Clustka, focused on advanced detection exercises in a controlled environment, strengthening readiness across a range of real-world scenarios. We’re proud to share that Nemo successfully located all training targets during the exercise!

We’re grateful to our warehouse facility team for supporting this effort, and to our Security Officer, Shane Chaves, for helping coordinate the training. Partnerships like these play an important role in maintaining safe, prepared environments for our patients, staff, and community.

Thank you to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office K9 team for your partnership and for helping strengthen the safety and care we provide to every person who walks through our doors.
