✨Doula support during labor & birth✨

🌈Birth happens in many ways and support can look different for everyone. Whatever your circumstances may be, my support is continuous and can look like....

🌀Answering questions and offering suggestions during the early stages of labor
🌀In home labor support
🌀Easing your transition to the hospital or birth center
🌀Creating a nourishing environment
🌀Providing comfort measures and relaxation techniques
🌀Suggesting position changes
🌀Offering encouragement, water, and snacks
🌀Enhancing the supportive role of your significant other
🌀Being a calming presence if your path takes you in a different direction
🌀Reminding you of your power, your birth preferences, and your autonomy

✨Doula support during pregnancy✨

On the day you hire a doula you will begin receiving support. Depending on your specific desires, goals, and needs that support can look like....

🌀Assistance in choosing providers and birth locations
🌀Education surrounding what to expect during the different phases of labor and the physiologic birth process
🌀Discussing different birth options and preferences
🌀Practicing comfort measures, relaxation techinques, and labor positions
🌀Helpful tips
🌀Assistance in writing birth preferences/plan
🌀Discussion of birthing people’s rights in a hospital setting, what to expect, and how to advocate for yourself
🌀Help with postpartum planning

Birth is ancient, instinctive and natural, and birth givers have been attended by experienced companions for ages. I hold the belief that the human body is perfectly designed to give birth and that childbirth is not inherently unsafe. My role as your doula is not to empower you. It is your job to look inside and empower yourself but if needed, I will gently remind you of your power. Your unique preferences and intentions are held in focus as you are held during your birth experience.

✨Doulas make a difference✨

🌈Beyond definitions and evidence based statistics, doulas are a positive presence not only in the birth place but across the full spectrum of reproduction.

🤲🏽When time stands still, as it most often does during life's transitions, we are the time keepers, the holders of hands and hips, the witness to your story.

🌀We make a difference because we do things differently. We center the birth givers. We educate, uplift, and normalize.

💫Your experience is worthy of our highest care.

The 'no plan - go with the flow' plan...

It's what keeps midwives, nurses, doulas and independent childbirth educators up at night...the 'go with the flow' approach. It shouldn't bother us - it's not our birth...we've no skin in the game...BUT we've seen what can happen to some parents who opt out of decision making about their care in labor. We've seen how GOOD birth can be, how EMPOWERING parents can feel (no matter what kind of birth they have) when they engage with their providers about labor options especially if you've had an uncomplicated pregnancy.

It takes courage to advocate for yourself especially when you feel like you don't have the experience or knowledge to engage in your care decisions. But you don't have to become a mini midwife.

Just like you would take some time to research a vacation destination, purchasing that stroller...buying a used car - you may not be an expert on the workings of the engine of the car so you'll ask other people about their experiences etc.
The car salesman has a job to do - sell you a car - most hospitals see their job as selling you a safe birth - but the data on 'default' birth is about as convincing as that used car salesman...something's 'off'.

Is a default birth what you want for yourself? Is a default birth what your baby would choose?

💜A doula may be an essential part of your journey
Hi! Welcome to my doula business page.

I’m Christy. I am a trained, full spectrum doula with a background in raising three children, growing food, and teaching yoga. After 23 years of watching my children grow up too fast, 13 years of farming, and 10+ years of teaching yoga, becoming a doula brings me to a passion that I have held since becoming a mother myself.

I deeply believe, through my own birth and loss experiences, that everyone can benefit from the presence of a doula and the space they hold throughout the perinatal time. The holistic work of a full spectrum doula resonates with me, because I understand that your life, your body, your family, and your choices all reflect your unique expression of being.

As your full spectrum doula I will meet you where you are and hold space for you to participate in the birth of your child, not just experience it. I will offer unconditional physical, emotional, and informational support to help you have a more satisfying and fulfilling birth experience or through any pregnancy outcome, including miscarriage, planned abortion or medical termination, stillbirth, surrogacy or adoption. Being seen, heard, and informed are an integral part of honoring bodily autonomy and choice, and because I understand and respect the intimate nature of your birth experience and your body, I will fully support your birth and care choices.

I embrace all family structures, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, single parents, teen parents, and pregnant/postpartum folks with partners away on military deployment.
