On a hormone balancing or fertility journey? These tips are for YOU! 📣

(but really we could ALL benefit from a more solid evening routine, no matter what your current health goals are)

Sometimes it can be SO hard to unplug at the end of the day, which is where having a go-to series of events to help you unwind can be so impactful.

A few more reasons to LOVE these tips:

🔺Regulating Circadian Rhythms: Consistent sleep and wake times help regulate circadian rhythms, which in turn support hormone balance. Going to bed and waking up at the same time each day can help optimize the production of hormones such as cortisol, melatonin, and growth hormone.

🔺Reducing Stress: Stress can disrupt hormone balance by increasing cortisol levels and impacting other hormones such as progesterone and estrogen.

🔺Improving Sleep Quality: Quality sleep is essential for hormone balance, as it allows the body to repair and restore itself.

🔺Balancing Blood Sugar Levels: Stable blood sugar levels are crucial for hormone balance, particularly insulin and cortisol. Including a balanced evening snack that combines protein, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates can help stabilize blood sugar levels throughout the night and prevent hormonal fluctuations.

🔺Supporting Digestive Health: Digestive health is closely linked to hormone balance, as imbalances in gut bacteria can impact hormone production and metabolism.

I know it can be hard to know where to start, which is why I always encourage my clients to pick just a few areas to focus on, rather than trying to overhaul their life overnight.

You deserve the BEST when it comes to your PCOS care, and sadly that is not always something you get at the doctors office…

Which is why I always encourage folks with PCOS to seek a second opinion and find a provider that really “gets them.”🫶🏼

You need a space to feel seen and heard in your struggles, whether that’s through your Doctor, a dietitian, or a support group.

Which one will YOU add to your morning routine?😯

I know it may feel a little overwhelming to look at a list of tips like this, especially if you’re used to just jumping out of bed and into work in the morning…⏰

This is why I always suggest starting SMALL. Maybe you choose 1-2 things to focus on this week, and you add habits as you feel ready.

As with most things, something is better than nothing, and we all have to start somewhere!

So be patient with yourself as you start to implement these changes!

Main things to note:

🔺While there can be more challenges as you get older, a healthy pregnancy is so possible!

🔺It’s always best to start prepping early (seeing docs, taking prenatal, meeting with dietitian, etc.)

🔺Don’t be afraid to ask for the support you need to make your dreams a reality

While yoga obviously can’t guarantee you’ll get pregnant, there are so many benefits for your fertility and overall wellness!

Stress is something I see so many of my PCOS and fertility clients grappling with.

And I get it!! It can be hard to go from work, to hobbies, to chores, caring for kids, etc. without feeling at least a little stressed.

This is why creating some sort of ritual (whether it’s yoga, a walk, meditation, or a warm bath) can help your mind switch into “okay it’s time to relax mode.”🧠😌

Intentionally reducing stress can have so many help benefits and positive outcomes, it can even impact your fertility!

I’m going to let you in on a little secret🤫… most new years diets and resolutions are designed to fail.

Why?

Because they don’t take a look at your actual desire, they just look at a short term band aid solution.

📣For example: maybe you say you want to lose weight because that’s been conditioned to be your default. But REALLY you want to have more ENERGY to play with your kids and really engage in your life.

Sadly, chasing weight loss will likely set you up for failure. It can actually leave you feeling more exhausted because you’re undereating and overexercising.

🤔So what should you do instead?

🚨Focus on the INTENTION first and then take practical steps to get there, even if they feel like baby steps.

Let’s do this together in real time: Say your goal is to get pregnant in 2024. What is one small step you can take today that will have a big impact in the LONG term. Getting hormone testing done? Reaching out to add a member to your healthcare team? Scheduling an appointment?

All of these things are GREAT next steps that don’t include any of the diet culture BS that often comes along with typical goals.

8th grade health class teacher: “if you have s$x you’ll get pregnant!!! Be careful!”

30 year old you: “umm… I wish!”😢

While it CAN be that simple for some folks, for others getting pregnant will take a little more time and effort.

Does this mean getting pregnant isn’t possible? NO!

It just means having tailored support and guidance could make all the difference when it comes to filling your dreams of carrying a baby.🤰🏽

100% willing to die on this hill friends!

If you have PCOS, you can eat dairy.

If you are TTC, you can eat dairy.

In fact, if you have PCOS and/or are TTC, full-fat dairy has been shown to benefit fertility.

If you notice unpleasant symptoms after consuming dairy, honor that too.

All I’m saying, is there is no definitive evidence to support that all people with PCOS and all people TTC must cut out all dairy.

Start by honing in to your body and how it feels. The more you do this, the easier it becomes.

There is some research to support the fact that dairy can cause cystic acne, but this is not the case for everyone and also not the same for cysts on the ovaries.

Remember, the “cysts” referred to with polycystic ovaries are not actually ovarian cysts. They are immature follicles that don’t mature to the point of being ovulated.

Circling back to a point earlier, full fat dairy has actually been shown to support fertility by promoting ovulation so, if dairy is something you want to include in your diet, full fat dairy is a great option for many people with PCOS!

Dairy is also an amazing source of protein as well as many vitamins and minerals so there are absolutely benefits to including it in your diet.

SAVE THESE AFFIRMATIONS for your fertile window👏🏼✨

The idea behind affirmations is to use positive and present-tense statements to reinforce a desired mindset or belief.

When it comes to fertility, incorporating affirmations into your routine during your fertile window can help reduce stress, enhance your overall well-being, and create a more positive environment for conception.🤰🏽

You might want to journal, these, say them in mirror, or even repeat them to yourself on your way to work.

Here are a few examples to get you started and WHY they can support your fertility journey⬇️

💫Affirmation: “I am calm and at peace, trusting in the natural process of conception.”

💭Explanation: Stress and anxiety can have a negative impact on fertility. By affirming a sense of calm and trust, you may reduce the physiological effects of stress on your body.

💫Affirmation: “My body is strong, healthy, and ready for the gift of new life.”

💭Explanation: Focusing on the positive aspects of your body’s health and readiness can create a more optimistic mindset, reinforcing the idea that your body is prepared for conception.

💫Affirmation: “I trust the timing of my fertility journey, and I am patient as I await the miracle of new life.”

💭Explanation: Fertility can be a journey filled with ups and downs. Affirming patience helps to shift the focus from impatience or frustration to a more accepting and trusting mindset.

💫Affirmation: “I love and honor my body, and I am grateful for its ability to create life.”

💭Explanation: Cultivating a positive relationship with your body can positively impact your overall well-being. Expressing gratitude for your body’s abilities can contribute to a healthier mindset.

💫Affirmation: “I am confident in my ability to conceive and create a loving environment for my future child.”

💭Explanation: Confidence in your ability to conceive is key. Affirmations that reinforce this confidence can help build a positive self-image and outlook on the fertility process.
