Black mothers and families in Wilmington deserve to eat.

The BMIP Community Fridge exists because too many of us are still going without enough food. Instead of waiting on systems that don’t show up, we’re showing up for each other.

If you’re able to give, here’s what helps keep it stocked:
• canned goods, rice, pasta, cereal
• fresh fruits + vegetables
• bread, snacks, drinks
• baby food + essential items

Drop-offs:
BMIP Center Community Fridge
2215B N. Washington St., Wilmington, DE (on Concord Ave.)

To everyone already supporting, sharing, or dropping something off - thank you!

Black women are still being dismissed, rushed, and harmed in pregnancy and birth. That’s not the past - that’s right now.

And real talk - posting about it isn’t enough.

We need people who are actually trained, grounded, and ready to show up for Black mothers and families in real life. In rooms. At bedsides. In moments that matter.

At this meeting, we’ll break down what Doulas really do, what our training looks like, and how this work supports Black life before, during, and after birth.

If this work has been sitting on your heart, come learn what it actually looks like to do it right.

Black mothers and families deserve real recovery care - not judgment, not barriers, not silence.

BMIP’s Connected Communities Recovery Program is here for Black women and families in Delaware who are often pushed to the edges when it comes to care.

Here’s what that actually looks like in real life:
– Real help getting connected to care without confusion or delays
– Medication for opioid use (MOUD) that supports stability and real healing
– Support for mental health, housing, and employment because life is layered
– Naloxone, harm reduction supplies, and tools that help keep people alive

No shame. No punishment. No conditions attached to being worthy of care.
Just support that meets you where you are.

BMIP presents: You Gon’ Learn - Black Maternal Health & Family Care

Too many Black moms and families know what it feels like to leave appointments confused, ignored, talked over, or not taken serious. We’re tired of having to fight to be heard while pregnant, giving birth, raising babies, and just trying to stay healthy.

So we built something for US.

“You Gon’ Learn” brings real-life tools, real conversations, and real community care for Black mothers, parents, babies, and families.

We’re talking about:
• How to speak up in medical spaces when something feels off
• Babywearing, cloth diapering, and making resources stretch further
• The truth about medical racism and how it impacts Black families
• Growing your own food and building healthier habits at home
• Supporting Black fathers and showing up for each other as a community

Come learn, get grounded in information, and build with people who get it.

Register: www.bmip.org/events

BMIP is also looking for facilitators.
If your knowledge comes from lived experience, community work, care-giving, or survival, we want you in the room too!

A lot of Black women were raised to believe struggle comes with everything.
Love gotta hurt. Rest gotta be earned. Help gotta come after burnout.

And somehow we got taught that being “strong” means carrying everybody while nobody checks on us.

But nah.
You deserve softness even when life is lifing.
You deserve care without having to hit rock bottom first.
You deserve people who show up for you without making you beg for it.

Being held, supported, rested, loved, and at peace should not feel rare for Black mothers.

We deserve ease too. 🖤

Black dads in Delaware are showing up every day for their kids and families - present, steady, and doing the work.

That care doesn’t always get named or recognized.

At BMIP’s Resource Fair & Juneteenth Block Party on June 20th, we’re taking a moment to honor Black fathers with a small gift of appreciation.

If you know a dad who deserves that recognition, you can nominate him here: https://bit.ly/4rC2GDN

Finding the right care shouldn’t feel confusing or out of reach.

BMIP put together a Resource Directory with Black doctors, therapists, and healers who show up for our community with real care and respect.

It’s easy to explore when you’re ready. Go slow, see what fits, and connect with support that feels right for you.

Check it out: www.bmip.org

When someone in your family is dealing with court stuff, it can feel confusing and heavy fast. You shouldn’t have to figure it out by yourself.

Participatory Defense is a space for Black mothers and families in Delaware to come together and work through it piece by piece. We talk things through in plain language, ask questions, and support each other in figuring out next steps.
