Harley has been serving as our comfort dog since December 2021 when Don rescued her. She came to work everyday ready to work....and nap. She was a gentle soul, Don knew she was perfect for the job.

On February 21, 2026 Sleep in Heavenly Peace held a very special build day in honor of Charlene Waggett who was a pillar of the organization. Mrs. Charlene passed away unexpectedly in November 2025. Her family and friends came together and raised over $5,000, with more donations that came in after.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace has one goal and it is their moto "No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town!"

Sleep in Heavenly Peace - NC, Wilmington was founded at the end of 2022 with the first bed being built and delivered early 2023. They have since built 1,200 beds with the 1,000th being delivered this month. Each bed cost appx. $300 to build (frame, mattress, sheets, and pillow).

Our outreach director Chelsea got to assist in this special build day working on the mattress slats. 50 beds were completed from raw lumber to sanding to stained and completed.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is always accepting donation of bedding, lumber, monetary, and volunteering. They are looking for more people that can deliver the beds, if you have a truck and availability on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, reach out to them.

As part of their dedication to the senior community Wilmington Funeral & Cremation sponsored a special performance by Harmony In Dementia for Elderhaus participants. Harmony in Dementia is a music therapy program enriching the lives of seniors and those living with all forms of dementia by providing a heartwarming, engaging, and joyful experience for residents and staff.
