💔🐾 Our hearts are with the entire team at Eastern Carolina Veterinary Referral and Animal Emergency and Trauma after the devastating explosion and fire that destroyed their building. These incredible doctors, techs and staff have always been there for our pets, and while no staff, animals, or construction workers were inside at the time, this is still a heartbreaking loss.

We are also keeping the four firefighters who were injured in our thoughts and sending them gratitude for their courage and sacrifice. 🚒❤️

While the loss of the building is difficult, it does not diminish the strength of the hospital or our veterinary community. We are here to support them, stand beside them, lift them up, and move forward together with compassion and resilience. 🐶🐱💜

As many in our community have already heard, an explosion occurred earlier this morning at our new building on New Centre Drive due to a car striking our gas supply line. Emergency crews are actively working to control the fire, and we are incredibly grateful for their ongoing efforts and bravery.

At this time, we are still gathering details and assessing the situation. We will share more information as soon as possible. We are grateful to report that the ECVMC staff and construction team are accounted for and safe. As this location is under construction, there were no pets on the premises.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with concern and support. Your kindness and care remind us why this community is so special.

Starting this month, we will be closed one Saturday each month to allow our team a bit of well-deserved rest. Our first Saturday closure will be this Saturday, August 9th. We’ll continue to be open all other regular hours, and we'll always give plenty of notice before each monthly closure.

If your pet needs food, medication, or care before the weekend, please don’t hesitate to call us ahead of time so we can make sure you're taken care of! 🐶🐱

With the 4th of July quickly approaching, here are some tips to keep your babies calm and safe. Please make sure to call ahead if you need to pick up anxiety medications or anything else for your pets, as we will be closed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (7/4-7/6) and will reopen on Monday (7/7) at 8:00am. We hope everyone has a fun and safe celebration! 🎆❤️
