Yesterday’s ride… and I’m still feeling it. ☀️🚴🏾‍♀️💚

73°, sunshine, and time on the bike—exactly what I needed.

Moments like this remind me that movement isn’t just physical… it’s mental, emotional, and necessary.

This is what Cycle Sistahs is about.

Move Well. Live Well. Ride Together.

Do you bicycle in downtown Wilmington?

Would you *LIKE* to bicycle in downtown Wilmington if the infrastructure for all-ages-and-abilities cycling was there?

This (DelDOT-hosted) workshop on Thursday at 6 PM is about a hugely ambitious idea to build a separated bike lane on 12th Street from Walnut Street to Harrison Street.

What if we thought ambitiously about what Wilmington might look like in a decade or two? Could downtown Wilmington eventually become *a place where more trips are done by bicycle than car*? If that does ever happen, it will be because we transformed 12th Street...and then we just kept going.

Big news! 🚴🏾‍♀️💚

Cycle Sistahs is now officially a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization!

What started with four women and a shared passion for cycling, sisterhood, and wellness has grown into a thriving community rooted in empowerment, connection, and movement.

As we celebrate 5 years, this milestone allows us to expand our impact, build partnerships, and create more opportunities for women to ride, connect, and thrive.

We’re grateful for everyone who has supported this journey — and we’re just getting started.

Stay tuned for what’s next 💚🚴🏾‍♀️🎶

Nothing ruins a climb faster than the crunch of a dropped chain. You lose momentum instantly and scramble to unclip before falling over.

Most riders think it is just bad luck but it is usually mechanical.

Worn components are the most common cause of the problem. As the chain stretches and teeth wear down they cannot mesh properly. Shark fin shaped teeth on your chainrings mean you need new parts.

Your derailleur limit screws might also be set incorrectly. These screws stop the chain from being pushed too far off the rings.

A dirty drivetrain is another frequent offender. Gunk and old grease create friction that prevents smooth shifting.

Even a slightly bent derailleur hanger can cause major headaches.

But often the issue comes down to shifting technique. Changing gears under heavy load forces the chain to derail.

The secret is to soft pedal for a split second as you shift. This helps the chain lock into place before you apply power again.

Still celebrating National Girls & Women in Sports Day. 💪🏾🚴🏾‍♀️

Last Wednesday, our Cycle Sistahs gathered at Trek Bicycle Newark for a Flat Tire Repair Clinic—and it was everything: learning, laughter, confidence-building, and community.

Huge thank you to Ben Meeder, store manager, and the entire Trek team for creating such a welcoming space and for being genuinely open to future partnership events and projects. This is how we grow the sport, support women, and keep each other rolling. 💚

Grateful for spaces that invest in women on and off the bike. More to come 👀🚴🏾‍♀️
