The lighting was too good not to take some yoga photos after running.
This lunge is a great way to stretch your quads and hip flexors. I would recommend padding your back knee and using a wall for more stability and support. Twisting could feel nice or staying squared and moving back and forth into the longer lunge and then back towards the wall.

Two years ago I broke my leg in Mexico City and sometimes I can still feel it. Marta’s been getting us running pretty frequently and prior to the break I had been running in barefoot style shoes (or barefoot), and it wasn’t until we were running frequently that I decided barefoot shoes will have their place in my movement practice, but I needed to make some changes for running on pavement.
The environmentalist in me was thinking but they’re pricey and selection around here is limited. After standing on some foot technology I picked out from a local athletic store. I’m trying to only wear them when we run and play tennis (new hobby), and in general just be more conscious of the commitments (and investments) I make for my body and my practice. And then tuning in to readjust where I need to. Because my unbroken leg is a different leg than my healed leg. My early 20s body is different from my late 20s body. And responding to these changes is going to be a lifetime practice.

Find your center and lend a hand.
🤝
When I’m at my best, I’m living in service. In service of other humans, animals, and the environment. I’m at my worst when I’m mainly thinking and acting in my own interest. I know these simple facts about my personality and yet a good chunk of time I live in the solipsism that is my own little world. The way back to my center is usually through service or thoughtful consideration.
I started writing this with ‘find your center before reaching out to lend a hand’, but I realized there is no right or wrong order. So I settled on the conjunction ‘and’ because centering yourself and living in service are not separate in my view.
And adding yoga to this thought, specifically half moon pose; As .sears would cue turn your heart and reach your top arm and extend your back leg and balance and bend your knee as an embodiment of such conjunctions. The conjunctions allow you realize that the pose is multidimensional and can offer insight and not just a static position to add to a trophy shelf of body shapes.

me after doing a loving kindness meditation from .depillo & .sears - check the setup!
Things I take away from these experiences:
I can be my biggest obstacle
I have built walls that make it difficult to express even simple thoughts, emotions, and feelings
My process or lack of one typically leads me to frustration or stagnation
I can love myself while doing the work I need to do
I am whole & complete
I am allowed to be joyful
Being kind to others starts with being kind to myself and loving others starts with loving myself

To build strong shoulders and get a good stretch through your chest and leg muscles, try this variation of downward dolphin. Squeeze the block or any other prop between your palms, put a bend in your knees, check your voter registration, plan how you’re voting, and then get out and vote.
