Carolyn's studentship began in 2007, and as a 200-hour RYT, she continues learning and cultivating her personal practice to more genuinely translate knowledge to her students. She firmly believes that the physical postures help bring you into the present moment, leading you towards mental stillness and clarity. In this quiet space, mindfulness, kindness, and compassion with oneself and others can thrive. Having always felt a strong connection to the ocean, the paddleboard soon became her floating yoga mat. Happiest of ☀️winter solstices☀️ boys and girls, brothers and sisters. And it sure it a special one on the eve of the Great Conjunction. The last time this was seen by the human eye was 800 years ago..keep the faith friends. Days are getting longer. Planets are literally aligning. ✨It’s only up from here.

39 weeks preg with miniRAD - 2 weeks PP

Documenting this journey has been very important to me. I found myself so frequently reflecting on my pregnancy with Royce wishing I had more photos to bring me back. I LOVED being pregnant with him. I was hardly uncomfortable, even at the very end, and fondly recall practicing warm slow flow on my due date. We moved so gracefully together..it all felt so natural, but I was still painfully insecure about my growing body and didn’t want to ‘bother’ by asking him to snap a single photo once per week 🙄. Call it experience or just less sh*ts given in general..actually 💯 it’s definitely that I now give zero f!* . I’m oh so proud of what my body has done to grow and nourish not one but two extraordinarily magnificent little creatures but I’ve learned grace and surrender.

Mamas ask me ‘can I still do yoga at such and such weeks pregnant?’, ‘what did you do to stay healthy?’..and all I want to say to you is this. First of all, ask your healthcare provider, not your yoga teacher. I may have a BS in kinesiology&health science on top of my YTT but I can only speak to my own experience and as much as I love you, I am not fully qualified to tell you what you should or should not be doing. That said, I want to see you celebrate the many phases of your life. I want you to stay well in whatever way helps you feel empowered and supported. I want you to take the picture of yourself two weeks postpartum and be PROUD. So very proud of the body that created a loving home for another magnificent life. Proud of the body that perhaps made certain sacrifices- gained weight..lost weight..grew tiger stripes..got wider to accommodate a mini. Do CrossFit..or yoga, or run. Or don’t. Just walk if that feels most appropriate. LISTEN to your body, don’t force anything onto it because it’s what someone else did or because you think you should to fit a certain image. Eat the food, move your body, be WELL. It will all work out in the end, I promise, but you must first begin by respecting the vessel that was gifted to you. It starts and ends there. This proud mama of two is excited to explore movement soon in this new body ✌🏼. @ Wilmington, North Carolina

With my whole heart, invite you to join me in mantra for peace and for my ‘farewell flow’ as I step back to make room for rest and wind down in preparation for baby. I’m feeling especially grateful these days for this body, my ability to express in what way I see fit, the privilege to experience freedom in the way I do, for the .ride.lift.flow community through his interesting time..for these things and so much more. This, my very last virtual class offering, is now live in our virtual library on MINDBODY. I hope you know how much each and every one of you mean to me. I cannot wait to wrap you in my arms once again. I’m so eager to feel the love emanate throughout our beloved red rocks studio once we can fill it once again. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Eka Pada Galavasana, Flying Pigeon -☝🏼 of a few peaks from this mornings LIVE SaturYAY Salutations with .ride.lift.flow. Here are a few more tips to refine your flight, or perhaps help you take liftoff if you haven’t yet! Give it a go, after warming your body appropriately ((see my class in our VIP Backstage Pass on FB), in a safe space, and with accurate self assessment pretty birds. Let me know how it goes!

1). ☀️ When setting up the hands, place them ((shoulder distance from one another)) a little further forward on your mat than your instincts tell you. Think* 2 feet forward of your grounded foot. You should be on the tiptoes and already leaning forward into the hands before you even take liftoff!

2). ☀️Gecko hands, my friends. Press *SO strongly into the pads of the fingers with grounded knuckles and then pull traction with your gecko grip!

3). ☀️ Squeeze for Jesus with those toes, the top of your foot around your opposite arm (pictured - my left toes around my right tricep). The shelf your arms create for your pigeon leg will only be as supportive as the energy you give back to them. It’s all about give and take. This will also help you.

4). ☀️ Lengthen your hips up and back in the opposite direction the crown of your head is extending. Before even experimenting with lifting the back foot, lean forward to your Chaturanga then extend **as fully as you can** through the sides of your body.

A four step process for finding a little Fri-YAY (mental) peace, stability & freedom.

1). ✅ FaceTime someone you love **connection to others.

2). ✅ Order to be delivered straight to your door. **Feed your body with something delicious.

3). ✅ A backbend of your choosing. Growing bebe in month 6 is begging me to opt for supportive modifications like this loving🪑variation of Dwi Pada Viparita Dandasana. **Move your body, breathe life into your bones, and open your heart.

4). ✅ Sit your sweet ass in the sunshine and get some critical Vitamin D..1 minute, 10, an hour..**Give yourself permission you stop the incessant mental chatter and enjoy the beauty that’s all around. @ Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina

Pro tip of the day: if it feels out of control, just put your mat down. Whether you sit and follow the breath consciously for 30 seconds, 2 minutes or ten. Whether your little one gives you a moment of peace with independent play, joins in on the fun, or stands an inch from your face demanding a snack and playing ukulele. Whether you get through your 15, 30, 45, or 60 minute practice or just lay in savasana and cry. Whether you scream or find a precious second of stillness. Just do it. Lay the mat down. Make an intentional moment in whatever way it is served to you today. It only goes awry if you force a mental state where your practice each day is required to look a certain way. Who knows, some grace may circle back and allow for a full practice..but if it doesn’t, loosen the constraints on the mind and just be okay rolling out the mat and sitting on it for a moment.
Then put your hand over your heart. Tell your little to do the same. And fill yourself with as many intentional full bodied breaths as time will allow.

This day has been so beautiful. The sun is shining, we saw our new babe wriggling and getting all kinds of tucked in and cozy way down low in my pelvis..It took longer this round, but I’m finally feeling the sweetness of the second trimester and I’m loving being pregnant again🥳. It was an incredibly special experience carrying Royce. He was so gentle with me..like we understood one another and I just found it so easy to nourish mind, body, and soul and listen to my body when he was nestled in there. This babe has been harder for me to read, but I feel like I’m finally there. There was a first pregnancy, and this is the last and little one - thank you and thank you again for being simpatico so I can savor every second. I’m so relieved to feel like my eyes have opened and I can take in the sweetness of these moments just you and I before you fly on in and our worlds are turned upside down again. I feel so intensely grateful to experience this joy in this way and to learn you before anyone else has the honor. You are a force, little love. I can feel it. And I can only hope to cultivate a home, a life, and a safe space to support whatever you have in store for this great big world.
