Welcome to Robinson Anderson Summers, Inc.

Located in Wilmington, Delaware, our firm consists of six full-time landscape architects, design professionals, and support staff. We provide planning and design services through all phases of landscape architecture, and are nationally recognized for our work in public and private gardens, health care and educational facilities, historic landscapes and restorations, and urban parks and open spaces.

Principal Allan Summers and Associate Jen Pennington are thrilled to have attended the American Public Garden Annual 2025 Conference: Elemental! in Denver, CO. In addition to the many garden tours and lectures, it is rewarding to connect with friends and colleagues. Allan presented an overview of the Master Plan for the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. Thanks to our gracious host Denver Botanic Gardens. The Gardens and Chatfield Farm were glorious and inspirational!

At Caldwell Zoo, guests can enjoy an immersive experience: (1) navigate the Amazon River’s Edge among the birds and tapers surrounded by lush plantings (2) come up close to the glass and watch the giant river otters swim at in Tyler, Texas.

We’re honored to share that Robinson Anderson Summers has received a Merit Award in Analysis and Planning from ASLA Pennsylvania-Delaware for our work on the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden Master Plan 2025.

This recognition celebrates the thoughtful planning, deep collaboration, and dedication behind a project that is helping shape the future of one of Pennsylvania’s most dynamic public gardens. The Master Plan serves as a guiding framework to grow the Garden’s mission, ecological stewardship, and community engagement for years to come.

A heartfelt thank you to the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden for your partnership, our team including Sarver Ecological and emdConsulting, and to ASLA Pennsylvania-Delaware for this recognition. We’re proud to stand alongside a community committed to excellence in landscape architecture.

Visitors can get up close to the viewing glass and see the giant river otters swimming underwater. RAS was thrilled to be on the design team for this exhibit, part of the new Amazon River’s Edge habitats at in Tyler, Texas.

Despite this challenging winter great progress is being made on the new Rose Garden at ! The new design responds to the character and scale of the historic garden while incorporating modern amenities necessary for its current use as a public garden. Can’t wait for the spring planting. Finishing touches are being made to the Giant Otter and Amazon enclosures this month.

Looking forward to seeing the Tapirs and Otters swimming in their new pools.

Let’s go behind the scenes where the new Amazon River’s Edge, at the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler, Texas, is currently under construction:
Image 1: The new jaguar crossing bridge will allow the big cats to transfer from two new habitats up and over the guest path safely.
Image 2: From this viewing area, zoo guests will be able to watch the new giant river otters swimming underwater.
Image 3: A fun new goat crossing bridge will span up, over, and across the guest path.
